Best moisture tester?

Recommended Posts

What’s the best moisture tester you guys have found?  I have an older version of this one, but it’s horrible when I’m testing warm corn.  When I say warm, I’m talking temps in the 75-100 degree range.  Thanks!

Way back, Dickey-John was what everyone used.

I have a GAC 500. Haven't found one for in the combine that is reliable enough yet.

What’s the difference between the mini gac and the mini gac plus?

We must have the mini gac plus as well, I know we have a USB port for doing updates, and the regular mini gac doesn’t say anything about a USB port.

^^That^^ is the nearest no count piece of junk of a moisture tester ever sold. That being said, you can’t go wrong with a DJ Mini GAC plus.

Really?  Maybe it's the John Deere decal on it that makes it a piece of junk.

We have the same version with the Case IH decal on it that is always within a few 10ths of a point of the ones at the elevator, and we haul grain to 3 different elevators so there are variables there and it still comes out right. We had a Dickey John before (it was a older one) that could never come up with the right moisture (or anywhere close) if it fell on it. We got to the point we just ran a sample to whatever elevator because the DJ was so inaccurate. The new tester hasn't let us down yet

I've never found the portable ones to be too accurate. We, and pretty much everyone around here, use the labtronics 919 tester. It's what the elevators use. Looks like this, and theres digital versions now too

The GAC plus reads test weight. That's what I have too.

Best grain moisture tester for the money.

Your teeth.

Best hay moisture tester for the money.

Twisting the hay and seeing if it breaks.
