I`m gonna get one Pappy

Recommended Posts

My oldest gdaughter , 22,informed me she wants a tattoo.

GMa calls her, a name of some flower forget what flower, and Gdaughter wants the name of the flower tattooed on herself.

After listening to her lengthy solicitation for doing so, I told her what I thought of her decision.

She again began to lobby for her cause.

When she finished, I told her God had already made her perfect.

All her parts are there and in working order.

That she is blessed to be whole and have the gifts she has.

She replied "but...but...but"

I then asked her why she felt the need to TELL us first instead of just doing it.

"Well, I just wanted your thoughts'"she replied.

I told her that she has mine now.

And if she gets one, I will drive to Columbus with my grinder and grind it off.

OK Pappy, I guess I won`t get one then.

sigh.........

Yep. If they told me to do/not to do something, I respected their wishes.

And the tattoo had NOTHING to do with it.

But you aren`t my beautiful gdaughter.

My biggest problem with tattoos is you can't change them. I don't like the clothes I used to wear back in the 80s so I'm pretty sure I would like a tattoo I had gotten back then either.  In 20 years she may not like it either.  She should wait until she has a little bit older and as more of life's experiences under her belt before she makes such a permanent decision.

Somebody on here has a signature that says a tattoo on a pretty girl is like a bumper sticker on a Corvette, it doesn't make it look any better.

That's just my personal opinion, but I hate to see young people make permanent decisions that they may later regret.

I dont think a flower tattoo on a female will be regretted down the road

Now skulls and lizards and stuff may be a different story.

Keep it tasteful and in a place that can be covered reasonably easy. I feel they are a personal thing anyways. If you are getting one to look "cool" you may want to think a little longer. They are much more accepted in todays society to a certain extent.

I personally find tattoos to be a major turn off.  I don’t begrudge someone from wanting them. But in terms of adding attraction they only detract in my opinion.

Takes all kinds to make the world go round, some ppl think they are pretty sexy, that’s ok too I guess.

Some people age very gracefully,  I’ve met plenty of beautiful elegant women in their 60s and 70s ,I’ve never seen a60 year old tattoo look very elegant.

Had I been onboard with it, I`m sure it would have put me in her "good graces".

I`m not here to be her friend, I`m here to be her grandfather and TRY to guide her.

It`s a forever thing.

Something I don`t take lightly.

I am proud though that she asked first.

Of her AND of myself.

Now you tell me how a tattoo will enhance this beautiful girl!

Simply peer pressure imo.

God gave women hairy legs and armpits. I like when they shave them.

God made em smell how they smell. I am glad they shower with pretty smelling soap and wear a little perfume.

God gave you feet and legs yet you drive a Mopar to the shop? I understand its cool and all but shouldn't you walk/jog to keep the perfect body God gave you?

We need a closer look to make sure she doesn't have an orchid tattoo hiding under her clothes.

I admire your tenacity New Guy.

Those who choose to or have already gotten one generally defend the practice.

I don`t and would prefer she doesn`t either.

Remember, she asked first.

That in itself tells me a lot about her.

I've got several tattoo's, each one has a fair bit of meaning to me. Will they age perfectley? No but that's a part of it. I'll be old and run down and they'll be with me the whole way. But I don't think it's something to be rushed into that's for sure. Way I see it I'm more of a Corvair so a few bumperstickers aren't gonna hurt

I don't really mind a small tattoo and certainly adults can make there own decisions. Having said that I prefer women without, I think they are gods beautiful creatures and I don't want to draw all over them. Now My oldest Stepdaughter got several including one that covered half her arm, she was intending to get "sleeves". She NEVER asked what we thought! She knew we would not approve so she did it anyway. A few years ago she went to a job interview at a high end clothing store in Washington DC. No one she met that day had a visible tattoo, she now knows what to do to have one removed. Lesson learned.  I know an awful lot of people male and female with tattoos and I can't really say I have a problem with them, there the same with or without. Its just not something young people should rush in to.

I'm not a fan of tattoos. It's my understanding the tattoo on the back, just above the butt is called a tramp stamp. Let's guys know they are good to go. Best not to have one in my opinion.

My new DIL is tatted up alot. Very pretty girl, do the tattoos help? I don't think so but her choice. Spent six years in the Navy. Maybe had something to do with it don't know, don't really talk about it. I can't see a reason to get one but don't look down on those that do unless it's a "LOOK AT ME".  I do agree with those above about youngsters getting one. Take your time and think it out.
