TD6, is it past the point of rescue?

Recommended Posts

I bought this TD6 at an auction on Sat along with what I presume is a replacement engine as the one in it has a con rod out through the side. Anyone know what age it roughly is has and American Bosch pump! But the front track wheel is really odd!! So I don't if bought a gather up of bits or what it is!!

Nice looking machine. Here’s the site you can get the year, no of 60 is right looks like a 1942

those front idlers look like they are adjust out as far as they will go! You might have to remove a shoe and link to shorten the track up. I don’t know if I would run it that close to the end of the rail. That idler adjuster is at the end of its thread. How are the bushings in the undercarriage?

hink your right about the adjuster and them being at there maximum, as I say I know very little about these machines and there is very few people in Northern Ireland have even seen one never mind have hands on experience of them, but for some reason I've always wanted one so here I am! As for the pump all can see is its American Bosch. The engine was partially stripped and the parts in a box so I'm hoping all is there to get it built back up again!

Welcome to the Forum !!

Where are you in N. Ireland ? Just got back home to Canada from there this week .... will be back there for sure .. wife is from there..

I noticed the tracks were adjusted to max forward as well... you may be able to get by with removing a link from each side, if you decide to tighten the tracks ..  in the manuals they recommend you don’t to that, citing the different wear pattern you will then have between the sprokets and track rails...but I think for a limited use machine you could get away with doing it.. I’m sure others have done it, and may chime in with their experiences...

For limited use you just may get by with the tracks adjusted to where they are ...

Keep us posted with your progress...

We were actually in L’Derry for a bit on our trip.. wife is from County Down, has been in Canada for many years now...

I doubt you will find any new chains, rollers, idlers etc.. consider yourself quite fortunate if you can find some decent used parts.. they are out there, but not abundant, and maybe not in your particular area ..
