737 Max crashes

Finally, a well written (by a pilot) article about 3rd world pilots and the 737 Max.

My personal opinion, based upon my observations having been paired with third world pilots in the simulator, is that had this happened to any US airline crew it would have been a non-event. I do fault Boeing for relying on a single sensor but I agree that they expected it to be handled as a simple runaway trim regardless the cause. I've had them hurled at me countless times in the sim, usually in a high stress situation and the reaction has been just a reflex. These guys never really get anything but rote training:

I have a friend who was flying them for American.  They were taught that the first thing you did was turn that thing off if there was a trim runaway.  All US pilots were well trained to handle it, but the 3rd world pilots, even the ones with lots of hours just don't get it sometimes.  Airbus had similar problems with 3rd world pilots and their computer controlled systems early on too.
