2366 brakes

The brake master valve under the cab and actuated by the brake pedals is seeping Hy Tran down onto the feeder housing on the 2366 just sitting in the shed.  I checked for loose fittings and there were none.  I will check further, but was wondering if anyone knows if there is a common place where these leak.  Caseih parts website has a picture of the valve, but does not list an overhaul kit.  O rings are all listed NSS.  Do they really want you to buy a new valve?  Thanks in advance for any ideas/advice.

That is just the common valve all international tractors used I believe. Seal kits should be avqilable

This is just a basic problem with master cylinders.   Because of sitting and moisture build up in the fluid, eventually the seals deteriorates and/or the master cylinder rusts/pits where the seal sits when parked, then the fluid starts leaking past and out the front of the plunger.

Putting in a new seal is the only solution, but even that will not help if the cylinder bore is pitted.  The bore must be smooth, free of pits, and honed.    A brake cylinder hone can help.   I never rebuild a brake master cylinder unless the bore looks perfect after I've run a hone thru it and cleaned it out.    Too many "still leaks".   If you see any sign of pitting or damage, replace the entire master cylinder.

This is why you *should* change brake fluid just like any other fluid.  It gets dirty and full of water,  which then attacks the master and wheel cylinders.

The 2100 and up used hydraulic brake and had a spring applied parking. They used the brake control that looked exactly like the one used since the 06 series tractor. Don’t know if it was same inside but looked close.

Ahhh....maybe my ignorance is showing.  I never even thought about the possibility that CIH might use a brake valve fed off the Hytran system, not a standalone system with brake fluid...despite having grown up with IH tractors that had that.........?

The overall concept remains the same--check the piston bore before putting in new seals.
