Having owned a 544 in the past, I think you will like this machine.

Is that a late 430 with all twine knotter?

No it's the old school twine only and needs a guy better at balers than me to get it to work right

I think the ICB cab would look cool on that tractor. Can give any advice on what would look right along with the cab. Lol

Had to drill out holes for the wishbone crossmember, I know it's not original but I already had this wide front and I like the look of the cast tube amd cast wishbone, looks nicer amd is more strong, and was cheap20191010_173626.thumb.jpg.f095672837c93022380b7dbffe8498ba.jpg20191010_173634.thumb.jpg.4a838d74f0f11eac92b011afa679b431.jpg20191010_174120.thumb.jpg.f24d80eea2a0626ff711eff99adc7285.jpg20191010_174309.thumb.jpg.0e1d85cfda6d1b416ba117911efb402d.jpg

Looking good! I just bought it’s twin on Monday. I’ll have to post some pictures of it when I get it home. It’s not as nice as yours. Tins a little banged up.

Very cool. My uncle loves his 544. Its now repowered with a 656 engine though. The original 4cyl gave up about 15 years ago. Was a real fuel miser with the original gas engine. Which is unusual for a gas tractor of that age and size.

I'm really tempted fo drop in a 4bt cummins in it, I got the 6bt in my pickup, the 4bt is same size but at 130hp and fairly cheap and would look and sound sweet, it runs good now but if this motor ever goes I think it will get a cummins

The 4bt you would want to put in there is not very cheap nor very common,  at least around here, beings you need one with a balance in it.

There all over the place here, people buy bread trucks for 1200 bucks with em in, I know a guy that has a 4bt in his farmall m, ford expedition, and believe it or not his 5 speed 90s Thunderbird,  I can get a 4bt for 1500 in good shape around here

I would be interested in the c-200 if you do the 4bt swap. I have a 544 with a bad engine and I’m not to far from you. Yours looks like it’s coming along great!

If I would it would most likely be years down the road

are you talking the crank counter balance many older 4 cyls need?

other than 4 s in a little (old) cat  3 and 6 cyl seem to be the best on balance/life in a diesel under 3500 rpm

Yes, we put one in a 656 that was to have a balancer in it and when running it you couldn't stand it and it would actually snap hood bolts off it was so rough. Then pulled pan and someone had already gotten the balancer off the motor.  Once we found one to put back on, all was good and it made a nice tractor!

Here 4bts out of like a 5220 tractor have been around 4500 I think and most we find are over 3500.  There was a man looking for another one to put in his Super M but he hadnt found any yet I dont think last I knew.

Is thats parts 656 a gold demo?? It has a black dash casting..

I thought it was when I bought it but other guys on this forum confirmed it was not, it is a gear drive 656 amd they never made a gold demo 656 in gear drive, hydro only, so at some point the dash got painted black for some reason. I bought it from a john deere guy real cheap so it wasnt faked to get a high price unless someone did that years ago to fake it,

Got it all put together for the most part, few odds and ends to go yet, after I get it running and see if the 3 point and hydraulics work I will take the radiator and swap out and fix some leaks here and there, and yes I know its gross that the original ih quick hitch is green, but waiting till spring when its warm to blast and restore. Been slow working on stuff this winter, seems like kids sick all the time and when there not I'm getting hurt20200123_093228.thumb.jpg.a7ecaef96b7a38efd9a6dff3e81bd260.jpg20200123_093238.thumb.jpg.870e97f7b0fdffa4e8aa618c3a7deaba.jpg15797941215957538206569120790852.thumb.jpg.eeaa5f5394b5e93abebbdb2d2fd03216.jpg

Looking great, Rusty!  Next is the ICB cab and dual hubs?

Did you install the doors and rear window on the 1456 yet?
