McCormick Deering milker

Recommended Posts

The rivet thread and cold rivet the differential got me looking for old service manual. The 15/30 manual doesn’t have anything about the differential. But I found a milker handbook I never knew was there. It has the posters you would hang up to be a better cleaner milker. Thought it was neat .

We had one of those milker units that would do 2 cows at once. Dad bought it new in 1945, used it until early 1960s, replaced by Surge and DeLeval units.

I saw one of those milkers at a show three weeks ago.

It was complete with a vacuum pump and it’s own engine, here’s a picture of it.

I missed that, my Dad's is still in the barn as when the Surge pump was installed it was put in the milk house.

I think we have enough stuff to replicate that.

Those posters are hard to find in nice condition.  They came rolled up inside the vacuum can of a new pump to be hung in the milkhouse.  After hanging in a parlor or milkhouse for a few years they got pretty rough. I framed a nice set to put in my display.IMG_20150627_144924.jpg.afde1e83d1c27dc072225bc7bed35136.thumb.jpg.da384aff54af1ae89aac41256f80ef4f.jpg

Very nice display, brings back many memories. I had forgotten about the teat cup hanger and cleaning solution.
Is that an 8S cream separator?  We had an 8S I believe and then later a 3-F that was self washing but still the 8S around in case the power went off and we could crank by hand.

The one in the picture from the display is a 3s.  Looks like the one in Hillman's literature.  Came from a local estate sale.  I have a self washing one as well. Will try to find a picture.

Ny bill,  keep an eye on the cover for the regulator on your display. Those are hard to find as well.

With my IH oil can for cream separators and milker pumps Ive been looking for one or both to complete the collection. I’ve come across some cream separators but haven’t had a milker pump come up.
