Nashville Vacation

Recommended Posts

It has been quite awhile since the Wife and I have took a vacation so we are contemplating going to Nashville the first few weeks in September , how we managed to be able to both get the same time off from our jobs is a miracle .

We are avid Country and Western music fans so the Music City seems like a fitting choice .

Aside from the Grand Old Opery , anyother suggestions for things to see and do while we are there ?

Country music hall of fame is an interesting stop. Wasn’t cheap to get in but full of iconic things.

I second Tootsies orchid lounge and a couple doors down from Tootsies is Jacks BBQ. Best BBQ in Nashville. If you are old enough to remember the Dukes of Hazard tv show, you will like cooters. It's owned by the guy who played cooter. It's a museum with all things Dukes of Hazard. Besides the General Lee, they have cooters tow truck, Daiseys jeep and other vehicles. Google Cooters Nashville.

Cooters is a cool place. The night life spots are full of history. I liked the Hatch Print Shop where all the cool old posters were and still are made. Speaking of that, I need to find those couple posters and hang them up in the shop....

I think it’s a B upside down hanging from the ceiling. Been a few years since I was in Nashvegas and that place didn’t exist then. I was too busy herding cats at a bachelor party anyhow. We ate at “Dicks Last Resort”  where the servers are mean to you and rude (on purpose) He mouthed off to me and when I got chatting with him he wouldn’t talk to me any more. 🤷‍♂️

I went about 12 years ago with Fort Dodge Animal Health so was in meetings all day. All we could do is hit the bars at night. Told the taxi driver we wanted to go to the old country bars. He said that was the "blues" section now. Lot of history with Kitty Wells, Hank Sr. etc pics on the wall. We just went from one to the other. Live band in each one. One bar, Mel Tillis walked in and had a beer with us. He was a blast, as funny as he is talented singing. No big crowds just a lot of fun. They said a lot of the old singers who got their start in these bars walk in occasionally to touch base with their roots.

That would be just cool , to have beer with someone like Mel Tillis . Must be a pretty common ordinary guy in person . I enjoy that old country music , KDLO 96.9 radio station plays the old country music here on Sunday mornings until noon .

I wish we could have spent the night with him. Just one of the guys, he had us in stitches most of the time with stories and jokes. I think he enjoyed it as much as we did!

Went a Moe Bandy concert at a casino around here . After the concert was over I decided to play a few hands of Black Jack before we headed home . Next thing I know Moe Bandy sat down beside me and played a few hands we had a beer and conversed while we played . He was just a common ordinary guy as a person can find .

Moe Bandy and Joe Stampley were a great combination, loved their music. I think Moe Bandy was a bull fighter before he got into music.
