Old DMI 13 shank with 4" twisted shovels is just right for our 14 with +170hp.....but you know it's back there in our heavy black IL dirt.  Have to disk everything at least once, sometimes 2x, to get the trash from 225bu corn through it though.  Disking loosens the first few inches,  but also adds wheel slip, so I'd say that cancels out fairly well.....

Watch "DMI Chizl Champ 13 shank chisel" on YouTube

This is probably 10" deep, double disked with finishing disk to cut trash....1486 pulling it.

We ran a 12' 11 shank Glencoe disk chisel for years. 4" twisted shovels in fairly heavy black dirt.  Pulled it with a 1066 & 1486 about 9-10" deep.   The neighbor would borrow it and run it about 7-8" deep behind his 986.

I pulled my IH 6500 conser-till 7 shank with 4” twisted shovels behind my 1086. It handled it with no problems in heavy clay but it didn’t run away with it either. All the chisel plowing now is done with the 8960 and the 25’ chisel plow.
