5288 No radio and no blower fan

Recommended Posts

I was mowing the other day with our 5288 and all the sudden the radio and ac fan quit at the same time. I then tried the flashers and headlights and they worked perfectly. I assume it was a fuse? What should I check first?

The cab solenoid is inside the cab behind the kick panel with the fuse box.

Not a generic solenoid. This application requires a solenoid rated for continuous operation.
Hy Capacity has a solenoid available that is made to the original Prestolite specifications and is a direct fit.
CIH now supplies a White Rodgers solenoid that is reliable, but, it is not a direct bolt in affair. This one needs a ground wire (supplied) added and either the mounting holes elongated or a new hole drilled in the firewall.

That solenoid is a nightnare to replace, make sure it isn't still clicking/ working before you replace because there could be another issue. I speak from an unpleasant experience where my solenoid was good and it was actually my fuse panel that melted. I test them first now.

You can get a continuous duty solenoid at any good part store.

Test before replacing any components.
