New cub hauler

Recommended Posts

Finally got me a cub hauler! No longer wishing I could take it to shows.

its a 6x12 AMO.  3500 lb axle gvwr of 2990.   I only have the one (147) but I am actively looking for a 73 to use for snow.  I was looking at a 5x10 but that would only allow me to haul one CC at a time plus it was only $200 more.   I had heard that the 4’ gate some mower decks bottom out so one has to go 5’ but this one works great.  It also isn’t made of cheap angle iron but heavy steel tubing.  The first test will be taking it to the SCRAP show chapter 6 state show Labor Day weekend.   I bought it from USA trailer sales in New Boston MI- I’d go back there.  I was happy with the service provided.   They didn’t try to push me into anything.

I’ve already had two people ask to use it before it was even licensed and legal. ☺️

Your absolutely right. When we got our step deck I made it known no need to ask cause the answer is no. For friends and family per say, I'll haul for basically fuel money. It goes behind my truck only.

Funny that I kinda prefer our trailer get used more often than we use it ourselves. Local mechanic uses it and usually inspects it as it's always run out. Wiring plug works better when it's polished up from use. The tires will dry rot off or wear down. Either way they are going to need to be replaced

Sounds like you have a great guy borrowing yours and that makes a huge difference. Most of the ones that would want to borrow mine, I know how they treat equipment, I'll pass on the borrowing thing.

My wife told me I needed to “try it out and get used to it” so I loaded it up and took it on a 2-3 mile trip. 😁

I 100% agree with, "My trailer only goes behind my truck"......

If you want it beat up, broken lights, gouges in the floor,  etc.....just loan it out....

I bought an 18' PJ heavy utility and modified/accessorized it just how I want it.....so I could use it (and have everything work correctly) when I needed it.  Still looks great 10 years later.

Sounds selfish,  but some things just dont loan out well.....

Most everyone I know doesn’t have a trailer hitch on any of the vehicles they own.  I suppose that means they’ll want to drive the truck with it too....🤔😳

I looked a long time for the one we have. And like yours, it looks almost as good as the day we bought it. That's the way I want it to stay. I hear lots of trailers going down the road with flat spots in the tires cause they aren't paying attention. No way I'm gonna let someone else do that to mine. Then I look and sound like the idiot.

That would be a similar situation for me with a relative. He'd want the truck to. But I know how he treats stuff. I'll pass.

Few years back I bought a lightly used 5x8 TSC Quality trailer for $200. A steal! Hauled my golfcart to RPRU  with it.

Then I bought a used 5x8 enclosed trailer at a fair price, $500.

Then I bought a well used 5x14 like yours cheap, $500 or maybe $600.

All to lessen the load on my tiltbed.

\

Can`t remember last time I had all 3 in my possession.

But I only lend to those who have something I can borrow.

Nice score on the trailer!  Looks good behind truck, looks even better with that sweet Cub!  Nice ag tires on it too!

Seen a 73 once with a Haban sickle mower on it- that was a slick set up!  Good luck in your search, make sure you share it with us when you do find it
