Cotton Patch . . . A Cotton Thread

Midwest heritage so I'm totally intrigued by this thread....

Only cotton experience for me was a trek to AZ in the late 90's for Christmas in the desert with relatives. Had time to kill so pointed the rental to the then rural Chandler area and wandered into a CIH dealer to recon and found a willing subject at the parts counter. Oddly enough the guy there was originally from IA and thus understood my mission, so he gave me some coordinates to a possible encounter with some IH cotton pickers in operation. As luck would have it, there were two machines running on second pass through and I happened to locate the foreman after my parts contact told me I'd be fortunate to find someone who spoke The King's English. The foreman was total old school and had been around a bit so he was up for whatever including my interest in the lineage of IH pickers sitting about, some of which still ran if needed. In addition, I saw a 7140 with factory ROPS/canopy on a disc, a 1486 ROPS/canopy on a module builder, and a 1206 fender running a ground clutter retrieving machine.
