The tool of choice in this part of the world with the professional hay haulers. The 66 one ton with flat bed will work for the amount Tony has in mind to bale I think.

Sorry I am not able to make it easy, but I found my pictures back on page 3 of this topic. So go back and enjoy all the hard work Tony has put into this baler and see a side loader as used in the 50's to 80's. Truck pulls up beside it, attach the 3 drag bars to brackets on your truck and away you go. The bar are resting on this one but you have to know what they to really see them. The elevator is powered by the wheels you can see the drive chain. The big wheel up top adjusts the steepness and height. The machine lifts the bale up and you and you role it off and drag around to place without ever lifting those 120 pound 3 wire hay bale 16 x 23 x 44 inches. With a good driver my cousin used this loader to put a 100+ bales 7 layer high on his 1600 Load Star in less than a hour on a regular bases. I was never that good and my fields tend to smaller and rougher. Just different ways in different places but all bales have been dropped to the ground out here. 1

Lol I did get the pulley bracket and handle assembly on , the cross sheet metal plate that holds the power shaft bearing and the feeder fork crank bearing . also started cleaning paint from undesirable places on the knotter and replacing grease zerks . I will have to install flywheel next so I can move the plunger so to be able to install rest of bolts on engine mount and hydraulic pump bracket . I have had to make two runs to town for overlooked bolts , spacers and a bearing . hopefully next week there will be more progress . started Prunning orchard this week so spent lot of time with pruners . tony few pic’s

Tonyinca
11/25/20 Baler therapy Wednesday ! we had to move plunger all way back to adjust engine mount as it should be, there are 12 bolts on that base supporting the front bale chamber . were able to get hyd pump plunger bracket in proper position . Flywheel on and set , all new stainless zerks on knotter , we managed to get the needle cradle on without scratching , quiet a balancing act . we found a problem with hitch , pulled it off along with a donor for precise placement of swivel as to accommodate stay pin. Should be able to cut back end and weld back end off donor without screwing up paint , the last foot and a half is in housing only has primer . tony 8
Tonyinca
Interesting day ! a friend of mine notified me that he saw a #71 in a retired iron lot on a large ranch About 40 miles N/W of me . I had free time this Am and I found it . Met the foreman he said look at it all you want but it’s not fore sale i must of spent an hour looking at it and taking few pictures . like to share these with you was great to see one on a farm where it was used and saved . it’s amazing the deterioration on a central Ca machine , much worse then the three I had to work with but it was all there in tact . Being we are going back together on ours ,it was very helpful to study this machine and take these pic’s . Hope you enjoy tony
