KWRB
Resurrecting this thread because this song's played a few times lately while I was working, and it's taking on a new meaning for me as of late. That, and I figured I'd share since a lot of you guys have shared fond memories of your dads in the past. Saw these guys opening for Breaking Benjamin and Five Finger Death Punch two years ago. They stole the show. The video has more a negative angle than the pyrics alone. Honestly, today is the first time I'd seen the video. I always just thought of the song as a conversation between a father and son, at the father's twilight of life.
mike newman
"feel free to add your favourites"'./.......said 88 power....OK.....most of you may disapprove.... .......maybe it is something to do with age.......sigh........but that long haired/ head banging/ lyric less/ tuneless/ screeching dirge, that seems in vogue these days, just doesn't do it for me.... I have a good mate who went a long way to an AC/DC concert.......bloody dreadfull garbage.......sort of like a screaming match set in a panel beating shop..... ......California does not seem to great "wraps " these days....but one Kate Wolf ...is an absolute standout amongst some incredibly good American female singers.......Like Nancy Griffith.......a girl with guitar and beautiful vocals......and meaning full vocals.......a product of California Sadly......Kate is no longer with us.......but her legacy lives on....and I find her music so enjoyable...........along with any of the yesterdays "top tier" country music, male and female artists..... ...The trip to the "Grand Ol' Oprey" back in 2005 Lebanon, with a bunch of the RPRU crew was a memorable event..... Mike I still have alot of the old singers on 8 track tapes and on 33 rpm vinyl record collection that my parents had . I remember listening to them on the old Sylvania console record player/8 track player and radio when I was a youngster

Mike ..agree 100% on that topic.......especially with the undisputed Queen of them all........Dolly . There is some seriously "top shelf" female singers in that category.......from the US.....but if asked to pick favourites........Miss Parton would head the list.......She just has every thing that a great vocalist has.......and her rendition of "The Deportee" is eye watering in its delivery........
