SMV Mounts. Custom and purchased

You folks always have a ton of great advice on all things IH and related.  One thing that I have been thinking about lately is how to properly mount my smv sign to my H without it looking like an after thought or some clunky add on for legal crap.  Now it goes without saying that having these things are important to safety and are very necessary or at least in my opinion.  Currently, my plan is to fab some thing custom to look seamless and functional.  Got a few ideas but was wondering what custom solutions or off the shelf items you folks are using to get this done.  Show us some pictures if you have them.  Thank you!

I don't have a picture off hand but I bolted an L bracket to the pto shield.  I can take off and put on the smv  sign just by dropping it in the bracket.  So all that stays on the tractor at shows is the little l bracket and holder.

I'm not real sure SMV emblems do any good anymore, traffic drives so @%#& fast on rural roads anymore I doubt most drivers even know they passed a tractor,  too hard to get their face out of their smart phone.

But there's a 3/8" capscrew right in the middle of the PTO shield on my Super H that bolts shield to tractor, also bolts SMV emblem to tractor. The M has a tool box bolted to PTO shield, small pair of vice grips holds SMV emblem to the front wall of tool box for the rare times the M goes on a road trip.

Do be mindful that you should cover up the SMV when trailering your tractor. They are not to be used on stationary things like mail boxes, fence posts, tree trunks, OR be used on things that travel over 25 mph.

Drives me nuts seeing SMVs used to mark mailboxes and trees. They just changed the rules for SMVs allowing up to 40mph for new higher road speed equipment

Thanks for mentioning that. I looked up the requirements just about a year ago and it was still 25 mph. Only thing I have that can run 40 is my pickup.  But good to know the rules!

As far as I am concerned they should get a fine daily for using it for a driveway marker the same as one of us would get a fine for not having one visible/clean on the back of something we are towing down the road. No problem for them because they can do it without any repercussions

Not quite what you're looking for, but tried and true on many farms throughout the country.IMG_20190311_113020130.thumb.jpg.4723839cd993df995a186ce8f5e824a4.jpg

and on this rare occasion, the wire looks newer than the sign!

Seriously though, our H has a nice SMV mount above the fender-mounted reflector. I'll get a picture of that in a few days.

There’s a place I drive by to work everyday and 2 driveways 1/4 mile apart both have them marking it. I think I will write a letter to them explaining why they shouldn’t use them. If that doesn’t get it maybe I’ll do a couple yard jobs.  ?‍♂️

Amen:  That there is REAL...the way it really is on the farm on a working tractor.   Bracket?  who has time for that!   Interestingly, the few tractors/etc I have that had a bracket to mount it, the SMV would crack out around the bracket and fall off.  The ones tied of with a rusty loop of wire never get lost.  A wire loop makes a real good vibration cushion mount.

Here is the bracket we use on ours and the two ways you can mount it.

Great design!  Thank you Super WD9!!

Great ideas everone and yes, please do follow up with picutes if you can.  I have a little more of an idea for a bracket but not sure it would be worth the effort as of yet.

Agreed Doctor Evil!  I still feel like it is part of my responsibility to do so even if no one else pays attention but that is just me being me.

Thank you to everyone who has chimed in on this thread!
