Red Binder back on restoration jacks

Recommended Posts

Tony, could I make one suggestion , This is probably one of the nicest upgrades for ease of driveability , along with unequaled customer support

from IH parts America and the guru of injection Bill Hamilton himself , The kits he offers are  100% plug and play

Hamilton TBI Fuel Injection System for your IH Pickup, Scout, Travelall - IH Parts America

visit to the red binder this AM

found engine , tranny , rear end being set to the degrees needed to avoid vibrations

after today if all goes well all mounts should be welded in.

i can’t believe the amount of engineering that goes into a build.

the rear end is a Ford 9 bolt , the tranny is a 700r.

Rob himself making tranny cross member

and few other pics . Notice the two degree meters on engine. Going to have to use  relocate bracket for oil filter

All the steering parts are in .

had to go with new steering post that looks very original but with tilt wheel.

had to re work exhausts .
everything being mocked up prior to weld solid .
the power steering pump found a place for brackets and is mocked up

      Happy New Year !

Progress is very slow but moving forward.

Fitted rotors and wheels  and set truck on floor to get our stance . The matching master brake cylinder to disk brakes , we eliminate need for booster cylinder. Pic. #5

Need to de arch rear springs for lower but they have been de arched once already. Ride would suffer , or we could mount  springs over rear axle but that's not something I want. Pic. #1

Decision is to build a Coil Over suspension for rear .  The thoughts are that we have original frame ,updated with current state of art suspension front & rear .

As most of you know in a modification , every action causes a reaction . Having to move few items.

To gain proper stance for rack & pinion and fit in crowed area of power steering pump etc . we went with a new steering column, it will have tilt wheel using original steering wheel. Pic # 4, 5 .

Here are few pictures of on going work

Tony,

Thanks for the updates! I always thought one action caused at least 5 new actions! The truck looks great. "low ridin binder"! or "candy apple corn crusher" or "sweet binder"

Its going to preform and handle like a new truck with all the up grades too!

Regards,

 Chris

I gave him a sample of my shade of 2150 that I use on my tractors ,which is Top grade Automotive Poly Urethane  By Valspar and tinted by my painter.

He then matched it to the latest PPG water based concoction allowed here in California.

     Both paints are single stage.

That's cool. That's really the spirit of what I was asking -is it intended to look like a tractor. I love well done projects like this.
