1947 Farmall Cub project .... Ser #1983

Recommended Posts

My 1947 Farmall Cub project .Im currently going through the transmission on this Cub and sofar its going well . Only problem Ive really ran into is one of the final drives cast is broken . It was cheaply repaired and I found this when I was going through to rebuild them both . So Im currently looking a Q dated final drive if anyone has one out there . Also the engine was replaced some time with a 1952 block and Ive since found a 47 era block to replace it with . So many people have told me to junk it or part it out but this tractor being a 47 deserves to live another day . Its a local Eastern NC tractor and Im the third owner . You can follow my progress on Youtube @ Farmall51 . My plan for this cub since it being a 47 I plan on deleting the PTO , Hydraulics and electrical system and going with a basic plain jane no extras cub . I will have the hand lift on it for demo purposes but thats about it . Just one wire and a Mag . Thanks

Yeah I will be filling in the holes with a back plate to cover them up and put the switch on the bottom hole

For some reason I don't think I have made the connection that you are Farmall51 but now that you mention it I have seen your progress on youtube. Seems like an interesting thing that you are doing with the Cub.

I am not as familiar with the variations of the instrument panels on the cubs other than mine with the ignition switch, ammeter, light switch, choke and starter ('48 panel). How is everything on yours arranged?

Around 25 years ago I found Cub #1939 in amazing original condition sitting in a barn in north east Missouri not for sale and I think they bought it new. -im sure its still there. a couple years later just down the road from there I ran across #1941 and I think #1945.
