Family said they couldn't have him around their kids and was considering putting him down. Wife and I could not let that happen without at least trying him at home. I think he wasn't getting enough attention. He is a quiet, sweet, lovable dog. He has not shown us any signs of meanness or aggression He comes when called, knows the word no and listens well. His favorite place is with us and gets along well with Cash. (The biggest factor) He fits in like he has lived with us all his life After a bad experience with Paisley, she got so protective of us, she would viciously attack Cash to keep him away from us. We found her a home with a single guy with no other pets and they are getting along famously. It has only been a week but we are optimistic Tuff has found his new home. Good job doing that. We have a heeler and a toddler. Our heeler is bossy, and easily annoyed. She's like you describe Tuff though. She's very sweet (slept cuddled to me all night in bed, since I'm a bachelor this weekend) and very happy, but the loudness and unpredictability of the child goes to her last nerve. She's good with dogs, even if she insists on being alpha; she plays well. The kid though, they're not a great mix. We usually banish her and our daughter to opposite ends of the house. The dog gets the bedroom with the big windows to the outside, the doggie door, her toys and water and my office. The toddler gets the kitchen and living room in which to make a ruckus. The setter on the other hand... I mean this. Every child in the world should have an English setter as a pet. My daughter is an affectionate, physical child. He tolerates everything and indeed meets most of it with a giant slobbery kiss. When she was littler she would hold onto his jowls, lay on him, pull his tail, squeal on/at him, etc., etc., etc. As a parent, we eventually taught her not to, but you can't always intervene in time. He really couldn't care less, as long as he's getting SOME kind of attention, from SOMEone. He's the most patient and sweet dog ever. The heeler is a WONDERFUL dog, but patient she is most definitely NOT.

yellowrosefarm
I was in a shop the other day and this service dog was there with one of the service writers. It has all the "don't touch me, I'm a service dog" patches on his vest so I'm trying to be respectful of that, and I go and sit in one of the chairs to wait my turn. The dog keeps looking at me with those sleepy blue eyes and starts edging over toward me. He gets to the end of the leash and starts tugging enough to get his owners attention. The guy is trying to ignore him, but finally gives in and says " OK if you want him to pet you that bad, I guess it's ok". Which I did, of course😀 Apparently the dog is a cockerbull, a cross between a cocker spaniel and an english bull dog, which I had never heard of before. 10

That is one of the chinks in my armor If I see a dog, I have a hard time not petting him. I have never been bitten and have made some good friends. That is a fantastic looking animal!

I like him!! Really needs to cut back on smoking though. Mike 1

And, I have to wonder why you pick a dog to hang signs on that say "don't pet me", that absolutely exudes an aura of "I love everybody, and I want to be your friend". I'm sure he is one of those dogs you could take to the hospital, a nursing home, an addiction center, wherever, and he would brighten everyone's day. That part doesn't come through the picture, but it's probably the cocker spaniel in him. I really wanted to put him in my lap, but I thought that would be taking advantage. 😂

Maynard
Reilly Montgomery Naden 14 June 22, 2009 - July 26, 2023 Reilly was a happy and handsome boy, never mind the uneven ears and lower teeth a little crooked. The first dog in my 67 years that took his first and last breath here on the farm. Reilly liked car rides, playing at the park and white cake with peanut butter frosting for his birthday. Reilly came as a package deal when his Mom was dumped near our house in late May 2009 and decided to live with us. A few weeks later, we had 8 puppies, Reilly was the one we chose to keep and were glad we did. He was a good boy, that's all we need from our dogs 14
