breathtaking photo - postcard material for sure, thanks for sharing - not to side track the thread but are they mainly used for wool or eating ?

...a bit late on the reply, sorry, Robert.....only Merino    wool is worth anything today...It is very fine wool.... Merino   sheep are specific to the High Country Stations....dry and high  !!

This year where I work on the Machines, the Stations    sold 16, 000   Lambs ...The Lambs go at about   40 lbs carcase weight.....and are chewed up all over the world..including your country  !!

..yes...Alpaca's are farmed ...in small lots by ''small life stye  block'' farmers...More of a 'fad'  thing really, but the wool is worth a few dollars.....bit of a effort to remove the wool from the animal, due to its physical size....

''Mohair ''   is another ...this from Angora goats..very valuable..but again a bit finicky  to shear...

Real farmer's don't mess around with   these sort of animals......we call these folk  ''Queen Street "'   farmers....city folk who immigrate to  the country ...dress up like shop dummies...and wander around hand in hand like Hansel and Gretal  did , as they gathered mushrooms ..or whatever they gathered.....*

......as my long departed Dad would say...

"'...your eyes are bigger than your stomach"'

..I believe, friend Sandhiller  ...that  lttle bit of home spun philosphy  would be applicable to you...as your dear lady placed your  special ''grease trap '' bib under your chin and passed you the electric  chainsaw  and a bottle of BBQ sauce......and to keep it within the bounds of the thread topic...as your ol' Hound looked enviously on......:)

Your dad, Mr. Mike, was a wise man and you have followed in his footsteps well.

Missus and me have a little saying also.

If there ain't bones for the dogs in it, we don't bother with it🤠

Some are not so lucky. Some azz wipe dumped an adorable Shitzu at our place this week. I wish we could have kept him but the other dogs didn't think so. Disposition wise they could have learned a lot from the Shitzu

When I worked at a horse farm next to a busy road many years ago, I found a dog one morning complete with his food bowl and a bag of food in the ditch. He was adopted by one of the girls working there, but still.........

Emma with the ball reminds me of my rat terrier when she was younger.  She was a relentless ball player. Would even fall asleep with it in her mouth!  Now, between doggie cancer and old age; she no longer plays ball. She wants to snooze and cuddle these days.

This was Chief.

He wasn't feeling up to par Sunday, and got worse as the day went on. Called the emergency line at the vet, and got him in about 6 pm. She took some x-rays of his stomach, and sent us to another vet who kept him over night and then did exploratory surgery Monday morning. Bad news was inoperable stomach cancer.

So long buddy, you were the best rescue I ever had.....😢
