Him and I are pretty much together all day and he’s growing on me. Pretty smart little bugger and is learning quick. How to you get to hound in him to not chase every last thing he smells or sees?

Mine isnt a hound and he still takes off. At 3 years old he doesnt do it as often now. I put about a 30 foot drag line on him for awhile. He is sensitive so I dont like disciplining him to harsh but last time I pinned him on his back and scolded him a bit. Hope it helps! Someone told me not to say a thing just give them a quick pinch like a alpha dog might. I will have to see how that's working.

Our old hound, "Jed" was really smart....but he was never into board games.............bored games, yes......I have one of my old Cook's slippers in the excavator......found it out in the paddock recently, all chewed up and pretty ugly......after Jed " had finished with it.....:( and we still really  miss him.....especially when bellowing at the cattle , trying to shift those ornery buggers.......

Good one, Lorenzo.....!!

What type of tracker do you have and how do you like it? Does it require monthly or yearly fees?

It’s called  whistle ,   8 dollars a month .

It’s great ,  when she gets older I might not need it but right now she wants to explore and she’s all over the place .

I have thought about getting one as I dont always see which way mine goes and I have clear cut timber all around. Also lots of cougars and coyotes.

You guys with the young dogs and all your adventures?

Gus just lays in the yard and stares at the house waiting for me to come out in the morning?

Feeding time (not mine)?

Like this bundle of energy? If I could harness this energy I could power a pilot light

For all the joys and happiness our dogs can bring us when it comes down to being time to put one down can be one of the most gut wrenching things to do. We had to make that dreaded decision for our almost 12 year old Great Pyrenees recently. He was such a noble dog. He watched out over all of our kids as they played and grew up. Our youngest daughter is only ten so he has been with us longer than her.
My condolences to all of you out there that have recently lost a dog or are near the end of the journey with a lifetime dog. 06D20760-5C1D-47A5-8D03-BF2FE8B46BC6.thumb.jpeg.b89dce2d480d17a68b2ab5a9bd159a01.jpeg

I still miss Penny , she passed away Aug 10 last year.  Still have her pictures all over the frig so I know how ya feel .

I thought it was pretty cool what this person did though.

Trying to keep dogs away from bees when playing is a must but doesn’t always work, my gurls Boston got tagged yesterday, outside the mouth luckily but still got a shot at the vet, she’s fine now but as this shows she had quite a sore face for a while.

Ouch! Glad she's gonna be OK Jake. Give her a little extra lovin' although I'm sure she gets plenty of that?

On the flip side my goofy Weim Gus eats wasps and bees. Seen him do it many times. He shakes his head and chomp chomp chomps but never a yip. He has to be getting stung too. No swelling or side effects. No answer or explanation, he snaps at anything flying around him.
