Sweet! I was wondering about the xtra lever too. Dump bed? Winch? Looks like it must be an xlt or a ranger?

Just a plain Ranger. The extra lever is a dealer installed WARN overdrive unit. It bolts directly to the transmission and gives a .78 overdrive. Technically you can split every gear if you want.

Neat. Dont think i have ever seen or heard of that style of overdrive but would be nice if you wanted to go on a road trip of any length. Nice old truck.

That old girl needs to be under a roof. Looks like it was a show car at one time? I assume that was a custom build by somebody. From what i can see looks like somebody did a nice job. They better take that card board or what ever it is out of the back tho. Looks like would just hold moisture and rot it out.

At a second look thats carpet isnt it. Really needs to be stored inside! Maybe it was a former hearse like sombody said.

That’s sweet. Never seen one on a truck but back when I had old Jeeps they were a popular accessory. Very cool

Those can be worth quite a bit of coin if they are in working condition.

I thought my wife was cool with a 4 spd when she was 19......I will have to show her this to get a reaction.......another girl has 4 more gears on her's!!!!

At least it has a body on it!! If that was in Michigan it wouldn't have a frame or body left on it to restore lol

That’s cool. I always wanted to find a 3 deuce setup for a 390 and put in a truck.

Had a duel 4 barrel manifold for 390 once years ago. Never had it on anything and traded it or sold it. Wished i had it back a few times over the years.

Buddy has had several 3 duce set ups over the years.

If only I was young again, and not married and......  Looks like You have raised an awesome little lady there.  A hopped up 390 4x4 with a twin stick overdrive...there is not a guy at her school that drives anything HALF as cool as that!!!!!!  Great job Dad!!

Probably an NP435 4spd with a divorced Dana 24 t-case. That OD would be awesome and should have the boys very jealous, especially seeing a girl that knows how to drive that thing.

The later high boy trucks had a divorced NP205. Closed knuckle Dana 44 front end and probably a full float Dana 60 rear end.  I always wanted to put a 460/4spd/NP205 in my 79’ truck since they never put a 460/manual tranny combo in a 4 wheel drive from the factory (to my knowledge). I got too many projects and a guy waving $$$ around took my 79 truck.

Well, if she is anything like my wife was at 19 with a '72 F-100, Kracked1 better get her a big sticker for the back window that says, "I don't take the orders, I give them!"

Have you guys tried to go at the original paint with a buffer?  I think it would come back pretty decent.  The older I get the more appreciation I have for original survivors, they are only that way once.

She is definitely a give orders rather than a take orders type girl. She just wants to buff what is left of the paint and wax that. And yes it still has the Dana 24 and the closed knuckle front axle.

My wife's was about like that when I met her, she was on a rampage to repaint it..............Spent a day with some Rejuvenator and the buffer and it came out really nice.  We put Deere Soy wax over it after the rejuvenator and even all these years later it still shines, we just use the Deere Wax every so often on it too keep it that way.

I was going ask, PTO or overdrive, but kept reading and got the answer. Speaking of Jeeps, what about the one next to the truck? Any pictures of that? Never saw a Warm overdrive in anything but a Jeep or Scout.

Nice truck btw, and a lucky young lady to have it. Pretty cool that she wants to restore and drive that too!

Find a two wheel drive f150 or 250 and do body swap cheaper in the long run.

Don't matter, whatever it is, it's not what she had in mind.

That overdrive with the 4 X 4 intrigues me-------on the Jeep and Scout the overdrive only worked on the early models with the dana 18 TC case.  The way I see it --the only way it would work is for the overdrive to be between the tranny and the divorced TC----other wise you would only be able to use the overdrive in two wheel drive.   Any thought on this?
