2018/19 snowmobile trips.

Recommended Posts

I’d like to do a family trip out there sometime. All the brothers and nephews go for a week or something like that. We’ve talked about it off and on but no one else seems to want to commit to it. Maybe I’m the only crazy one I don’t know lol.  My brothers always said I don’t want to go,  it’ll wreck snowmobiling for me as I’ll never want to ride around home again lol.

The thing is out here there is riding for anyone. If you just want to ride the trails you can. As far as wrecking sledding back home, yes and no. I still ride at home no problem. A year like this though might have to ride out here more than home if we dont get any more snow

Had a good day up on boulder today. Buddy hit a hole or drainage and got a bit stuck. I came across a nice spring coming out of the mountain, looked like a waterfall with stepping stones. Last pic is just a nice shot my buddy got of the two summit x's

Certainly no shortage of snow by the looks of it. We've got pretty good ridding here now at the farm. Some nice fluffy drifts to play in. Even managed to kind of get stuck the other day lol. Drove up onto of a big drift and stoped. Was facing up hill and of course it spun a little when I took off. I got off hoping I could give it a bit of a push up but it just started going deeper so I just pulled the front end around and drove down and out of it. Need to do some suspension tweaking for powder riding. It's trenching right now. Front center shock is set up much to stiff I think. Have the limiters pulled up a few holes already.

My limiters are getting loosened right off when I get home lol. No fun if the skis ain't pointing to the sky 😂😂

Heart ♥️ attack for me to get that out of there.

I had the happen to me on an old skidoo 1970 boogie wheel , I thought I was going to die 30 years ago I was working so hard to get out.

Wished i never got to close to snow fence , sunk in like that

Looks like you need a tetanus shot to work on that thing lol. That front end looks strangely familiar to me now too lol.  Didn’t think I’d be riding a ditch pickle a few years ago lol.

Nice sleds guys.

Aerate the lawn with that👍🏿👀🤓

I also think it would perforated the black plastic in the garden for planting👍🏿

See all kind of year around uses and enjoyment 👍🏿👀🤓

Couple pictures I took tonight. Went for a short little ride at dusk just north of home into the forestry and on our bush quarter. I stoped at the community we’ll to take a break. I’m out of shape😂😂 Yes round is a shape but not the best shape for snowmobiling lol. Ended up on my side once playing in the powder almosted Layed down for a while lol.

It was actually one if the easier unstucks we had all week. Just rolled the sled on it's side then flipped it down on its skis and out it went. At least it wasn't on a steep side will where I got stuck. Couldn't hold the sled back so I had to walk down to retrieve it 😂

Kidd’s ️Ugh

You haven’t lived ( or killed yourself)till you ride a 1972 skidoo.

Hey ️they still talk about the 360 at 25 mph I somehow did on a Massey-Ferguson , just sheared the windshield off ,didn’t hurt the runnin!

Dad had a eltigra years ago the. He got out of snowmobiling in the late 80tys. Probably wore it out and didn’t want to fix or replace it I imagine.  He used to do a lot of snowmobiling locally here when you could safely cross the river. Now it’s to risky close to home. It’s always heaves up and quite often open in a lot of places.

Zr600 or zr700 is what I wanted when I was in high school. Looked at lots but ended up with a good deal on the 700 triple Yamaha we still have.  Been on yamahas since then lol.  Guess I’m kind of back on a Cat now lol.

Yes us kids get a little carried away now and then 😂

I've put a few miles on some relic sleds growing up. Not a bad memory that I can recall

My first sled is was a 1974 ski-roule 340. Was a fun little sled that actually went pretty good. I had a close call with a car one day and smashed it up pretty good. Still driveable but sure didn’t look pretty. Brother picked up a 440 ski-roule with a bad motor for me and put the good 340 motor in it.  Put another 1,000 or so miles on it. I’ve still got it but it hasn’t run I’m close to 10 years now. It’s not seized but the carb needs a good servicing I imagine. It’s a Walbro carb with the diaphragm in it and I’m sure it’s shot.

Put a set of led lights in the viper last night. Definitely a lot better then the stock ones.

The LEDs sure make a difference. And look good too 👍

Well not sure where the week went but we hot home Sunday evening. Saturday was an unreal day riding. Blue skies and warm up on Frisby Ridge. It was actually a bit too warm. The snow was really settling and packing. We were the first sleds up top and thought we'd have to really look for snow since Friday was a decent day, but it must've been foggy by the cabin Friday, because we got to the first lookout and there was not a track in sight other the trail heading north. Needless to say, we never ended up more than a couple miles from the cabin, which was good since we left after lunch. By time we left though, the wasn't much for untouched snow left lol. And I was getting a bit too comfortable and picking spots I normally wouldn't go lol. Here's some pics from Saturday. Quite a few actually since it was the best day. Not sure why I never took any of us loaded up and on the road. No snow at all from west of Calgary to Moose Jaw. And really not even anything significant till Fort Quappelle

Wow looks like a perfect way to end the trip. Some awesome shots that’s for sure. I was going to go north today and put on some miles at the rally we usually go to but it’s so cold we said to heck with it.  Lots of weekends coming up yet to go play. There’s a remote rally north of LA Ronge that I want to go to this year. It’s out in the middle of no where bit there’s some beautiful sights and historic landmarks that you can only get to by snowmobile or boat.  It’s about 3 and a 1/2 hours north of here so like I say it’s kind of in no mans land. Should be a good ride though. Stanley mission is where the ride is. Nistowiak falls and the church on the Churchill river are the two big highlights of the trip. Jim’s camps is one of the stops.

Yes way too cold to ride here too. I haven't even unloaded the sleds yet lol. Maybe that's a sign I should just hook back up and go west! Lol

That sounds like a good ride. Is that what I would call a poker derby? Draw a hand at 4 different spots along the trail. Or is it just a ride? I see Enns Bros is putting on a ride for cancer this year. That would be fun, but they better get some snow around Portage first lol
