repower on Drott 150

Recommended Posts

Was asked to help with this project,  pulled a glow plug 6 cylinder out and went back in with the NA cummins pictured here. Will be operational by end of the week.

Wondered if anyone on here knows what other models use same trans and bell housing as the 150?  I am guessing this is a one time build of this kit but would like to know

what else it might work in?

Very nice conversion, post some pictures when it's done. IH TD9B use the same power plant and transmission (power shift),  I imagine you could also adapt it to the gear drive TD9B, also the TD9 92 series and TD6 62 series, they all use the same D282 IH engine. What is the operating rpm range and hp of that Cummins engine?

I would have to go to the tag on the engine but its a non turbo engine and 115 flywheel is about it on them. but they torque up real good down around 1500 rpm

The best part is they start when its cold!

We have done a T-6 in the past and i believe that kit will work in a TD6 as well.  With the turbo the HP gets to 160 pretty easily and they have a great torque rise if set correctly. Thanks for the insight tho,  when we advertise it as a kit I want to make sure we are accurate.

guess I should put this in the construction forum,  I think the track guys would enjoy it some

the gear drives are easier to get flywheel correct on than the PS for sure.  Any of those engines with the flat rear plate are doable, gets a little harder when they go to a curved or odd shaped bell. You asked about range of rpm I think that one runs up toward 2600 but they will do more.

Wow!  How did this work out Ed?  There are H30’s and H50’s loaders with 236 and 282’s as well, never my favourite engine, they even seem weak in the head bolt department for a gas engine where they started from.
