International Harvester 1300 D

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I've bought me an old norwegian build firefighter, based on IH 1300D, 4x4, 304 V8.

It has run 26750 km.

I have some rust issues. Most serious is around the front windshield. Any advise to get the windshield out?

Best wishes

Bobbe

very cool, what are your plans for it?

Hello!

Not sure yet, but I'm thinking of making an expedition truck.

How ever the fuel consumption 3,5 litres per 10 (6,72 mpg)km tells me that I won't go far with the truck. In Norway 95 octane costs round 17 nkr per litre(around 2 us dollar pr litre).

Now I'm only using it when we're at our cottage in Northern Norway.

Very cool truck !!!   Welcome to Redpower , and may I suggest looking at binderplanet.com ,   These forums are great and both

of them have been an enormous help in freshening up my 67 Travelall (truck section)

Here is a list of parts suppliers here in the states , most will gladly ship overseas

Scout // Light Line Distributors, Inc.

Here is a fella that might be a bit closer to you that really knows IH trucks Pauls IH Pages

I purchased a new 1200D 4X4 in June of 1970 in California USA. It was a V345 and a T98A1 4 speed with 3.73 gear ratio.

The dual rear wheel 1300 chassis is different from the 1000,1100,1200D but body is essentially is the same.

Your truck find appears to be in excellent condition after all these years.  The horn cap on the steering wheel and the stickers on the transfer case and the gear shift knobs are a good indicator of easy use.

That model of IHC was prone to rust, yours is not all that rusty as compared to others I have seen in the USA.

Our 1200D new got average 12.1 MPG US measurement on long highway trips. Gasoline at that time was 35 cents per gallon US.

OK!

I need definitely a tune up. Would be super happy if I get 2,5 l/10 km = 9,4 mpg.
