Had some good progress going on the 706 today, until I went to put the injection pump on! My mechanic (me) forgot to put the pump drive gear in before buttoning up the front cover!🤔🤔🤔🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️   So back apart we go!! Seems like 10 steps forward, 25 steps back is the way this project is going! 36892832-083F-4182-A454-A9EBFB593E75.thumb.jpeg.c9a82d26b08c2bc246e948758ca41195.jpegE470584F-1080-4CAF-8FF4-4D1DB5E337BD.thumb.jpeg.4927ab569ee85ade445f926949016ea0.jpeg

I feel your pain! Whole time I was getting the 301 ready to go in the 756 I was thinking, one mistake will take a long time to resolve!

I don’t know what I was thinking?! For some reason I thought it was the same as a 400 series, take the cover plate off, and put the gear in, nope!!🙄😩

Made some real good headway on the 706 the last few days!! Yesterday it actually came back to life!! Runs, drives, steers, and has brakes after roughly 30 years of sitting!! My wife took it for a quick spin yesterday afternoon as well! So here’s where it sits after today!!67E15DCB-6454-4915-911C-28E84B796E12.thumb.jpeg.539c89385edb151c139e68af2be7ca6c.jpeg

Nice tractor and good work!  Dad and I have 3 standards like yours.  2 with 282s and 1 gas.  I always liked them even though they are too small to be considered desirable muscle tractors by most collectors..

That’s the reason I bought the 1256 in the, I already know the answer, but, topic.  The more I worked on the 706, the more I liked the big round fenders, and the look of them.  I just wanted a tractor that could pull something of size!!

1:45 am, and just getting in the house from finishing up the 706!! Other than a quick bath with the pressure washer, I think it’s ready for the threshing show this weekend! I moved it to a different shed where the weights were, looks pretty good under the few fluorescent lights I have!7DC80580-1296-4DCD-939E-036BD5ED556D.thumb.jpeg.7778fbcfc2f8989be7af35066ae59ace.jpeg

Looks awesome, I like it😃.  Don't see those here in Michigan.  By the way, where can I find a head for a 282. Presently working on a 706 but need a head. Ole one is cracked..  Think customer is thinking of parting tractor out now if can't find a head

It was also very nice to meet you and your wife. You did a very fine job with that 706.

Erich

@augercreek, and @EJQ, Very nice talking with the both of you gentlemen as well!!
I’ve always wondered if there were fellow red power members that attended that show?!

@EJQ how did the day finish up in the blacksmith shop? Beautiful day for a tractor show and blacksmith work!!

Looks good Blaine!   Where did you take it? White pine?   Saw a video from a friend from there and there was a 706 in background…..

Thanks Nate! Yes it’s first run was White Pine!  That show was a goal I had 30 days ago, I wanted it there.  It fought us the whole way, but we did it!!

I see that!! I would like to go, but, we might be combining corn by then?! Our corn died in early August.
Do you guys stay at the show grounds all weekend with a camper, or do you commute back and forth?
