Teflon Rear Seal 310 358 German diesels

Recommended Posts

I got a Teflon rear seal with the wear sleeve from Ag Parts for a 756. Put the sleeve on the crank like instructed and have a he?! of a time getting the seal over the sleeve! Tried a feeler gauge to slip it over but it's pretty tight even for a .005 gauge. Also have some old microfiche cards I put around the crank and then can't get them out without tearing them once it's on. They say not to use oil and not to use the plastic spacer to install the seal. Afraid it might stretch it too far and not shrink back if I did try that. Then split it again later. Anyone used these before? May just go to CaseIH and get a rubber seal, there wasn't much of a groove in the crank.

This is the spacer they say not to use, it's just for keeping the seal round apparently.

Been there done that.........know what you are saying, I however use the plastic ring provided to get the inner lip of seal to start up over wear sleeve. I made a tool to then press seal in evenly. Before making the tool I installed several by using hammer to tap it in place, that is when I decided there has to be a better way.

Hope this helps, ya

Well the seal is already in the rear housing. I"d rather not take it back out and damage it. If I use the plastic ring to install it will the seal shrink enough to seal on the sleeve? Really don't want a leak when I get it all together.

Well I went to the dealer and got a  factory neoprene rear seal. Left the wear sleeve on the crank. I used the plastic spacer to install the seal on the crank and it worked fine. I'll have to keep that in my tool box.

Not sure what the difference between the seals from Hy capacity and Ag Parts are but there's a huge price difference.
