ihmadness656
I currently have a IH 4140 and it has the chrysler 4 cylinder gas. Parts are still around just takes some searching. I just got done rebuilding mine. New driver gears, hoses, water pump ,govenor, starter ECT. As far as I know a 12c is the same size just different motors. DonO-MN
ihmadness, I have a question for you. I recently picked up a 4140 with the Chrysler engine, but it is running a bit rough. I planned to start with new points, cap, plugs and plug wires. Also check the timing. Is there a way to get to the front of the engine (at the back of the machine) without draining and removing the entire radiator assembly, i.e. radiator swings to one side or the other? Thanks for any advice you or anyone else can provide! DonO-MN
ihmadness656
No, I am afraid not. I have at times though just taken the top radiator hose off and the nuts and tilted the radiator back enough to get to the belts and fan. You lose a little fliud but not a bunch. Also I ran into a problem a couple years ago of the same thing of it running rough. I changed every thing you are going to but it ended up being a bad carburetor. DonO-MN
Thanks ihmadness656, guess I'll just have to dig into it, but not till it gets a little warmer out! It's rough when the daily high is still below zero. I know you are having the same there in Iowa. DonO

So yes the only Chrysler 4cyl i know of is that God awful H105. American Eng, Licensed for England's Small cars during the 70s & Early 80s. The one i looked at the eng needed a Rebuild... Whilst searching on Craigslist i come across another guy in WIS who had a 4140 & could only find 1 Engine shop here in the U.S who could get Rebuild kits ($2800) Otherwise you have to find a Kit in England. Which was over $3000.

DonO-MN
Cubnamedoscar, what are the issues with the H105 engine I should be looking for? As mentioned, it is running a little bit rough, so now I'm concerned. DonO
DonO-MN
ihmadness or anyone else out there know where and how to drain the engine oil on that 4140 skid steer with the Chrysler 4 cylinder gas engine? I did buy a manual for servicing the skid steer, but we are in the middle of moving and all my books are packed away so far, it might be months before I can lay my hands on them. Thanks, DonO
ihmadness656
The oil drain plug is on the left side down by the wheel if you are standing behind the machine. The first one is the oil and the other one closest to wheel is for gear case under the seat. Unless some one changed them. Just follow the hoses. Can anyone help me? The Chrysler H105s are pretty tough to get parts for, I had one and rebuild kits are not even available. I was able to track down a kit in the UK as the eng is the same as used in a Small '70s ford compact car only made for the UK Market but was over $2800. Your best bet is to call my friend Gordy. He'd have it all. Former Hydra-mac Dealer. Gordy Shop number 218-574-2501
