These older guys I use to help farm with back when I was a teenager when we were fixin something on a piece of machinery theyd say its just "about a cunt hair to far" or to close the other way and they also would say if something smelled wicked that it smelled "like a French hore" and that this or that person is "dumber than a box of rocks".

"Schitting in High Cotton"  to describe someone making a lot of money or having a windfall of some other form.  If they were really well off, they added: " and wiping their axx with the top leaves".

Some people are so stuck up that they "wouldn't say $hit if their mouth was full of it". I've heard that one used about certain individuals who think they are too important to say hi or pass the time of day.

Now that one is very familiar. Another my dad used to say was "you've got to make hay while the sun shines". Sometimes it even applied to making hay. :-)

huh. I always just thought this meant a person who doesn't speak up, like if they're shy. I wonder which is the more common meaning.

I guess that saying could apply to both situations but I've only heard it use on the stuck up sobs that would rather look the other way than say hi.

Another of my dad's sayings came up this morning. "Sticks out like a sore thumb". I actually caught myself using it without thinking.

Kinda in the theme of this thread.  Often uttered by a foreman I worked for to one guy that liked to over trowel.

"Concrete's like a man's di_k.  Theyl both get hard if you don't f__k w/ em."
