I had never heard of this till a customer (who knows my IH love) mentioned something to me about mini-van development for IH.  He says that IH wanted Dodge out of the commercial truck game, so it was agreed that IH stop pursuit of the mini-van concept & Dodge stops building heavy duty trucks.  I don't know the truth to that at all.  I can find no evidence to support that.

I'm digging the turbine wheels

I know!  I've always had a spot in my heart for those on any truck of that time period.  From all info I've read, it seems that this was going to be a 4X4 or all wheel drive, which makes sense b/c IH was trying to appeal to the outdoorsy folks during this time frame & not the average US family working 9-5 with 2.3 kids and a dog.

I would have called it the Maxi-Van instead of the mini-van. You never know, if they had followed through with it maybe men wouldn't have a complex against driving "mini-vans" today????

ih also agreed to drop lite and med lite lines, maybe Eason knows if scout had an extension or hard date had it sold  and or S2 was an agreed ..re launch..?

Iacocca would have been privy to all this development pre '82 or ....maybe the deal included  the R & D/+ concept....?
