He says that IH wanted Dodge out of the commercial truck game, so it was agreed that IH stop pursuit of the mini-van concept & Dodge stops building heavy duty trucks. I don't know the truth to that at all. I can find no evidence to support that.

I've always had a spot in my heart for those on any truck of that time period. From all info I've read, it seems that this was going to be a 4X4 or all wheel drive, which makes sense b/c IH was trying to appeal to the outdoorsy folks during this time frame & not the average US family working 9-5 with 2.3 kids and a dog. nepoweshiekfarmalls
Very cool! I can see the Scout II in the design. This could have been a game changer for IH...........
Sledgehammer
I would have called it the Maxi-Van instead of the mini-van. You never know, if they had followed through with it maybe men wouldn't have a complex against driving "mini-vans" today????

Iacocca would have been privy to all this development pre '82 or ....maybe the deal included the R & D/+ concept....?
