Reichow7120
I like the photos. I especially like the double drill setup with hitch. I considered building one for our John Deere drill and buying a second drill but I never completed those plans. 5488 must just play with those drills pulling them. Ihfan4life
Is that double hitch part of the front drill or was it a separate “ kit” that bolted on to a drill? Could you possibly pull 3 drills by mounting one to the second drill?
superih
The 5488 is way too much tractor, but the drills require 3 hydraulic outlets, my 856 only has 2, and to be honest i like being in the A/C and out of the dust! The hitch is something IH offered, it bolts to the front drill, works real nice, no you wouldn't be able to pull three drills because of the way it moves the front hitch over. 5488Duke
very nice 5488 you have there. Don't see many single drills like that even around these parts, so to see a tandem like that is bringing back some memories. Thanks for sharing
Reichow7120
I don't know when the pictures were taken but the ground looks just right. It doesn't look like if these pictures were done recently that you have received the abundance of rain that we have had in the Southern part of the state. We'v had 4 1/2 inches of rain since a week ago Friday. There is a area about 15 miles south of us that had closer to 7 inches of rain. We got some ground that needs some drying out before we get on it if we ever do and some that may need to be replanted.
superih
Pics taken yesterday, this ground was all disc ripped at 12" last fall, makes a difference to water infiltration. We got 1.5" on the 3rd and another 1.0" on the 12th, planted this on the 18th, got another 0.9" today.
