How to research my BD 240

Recommended Posts

In reference to this thread: https://www.redpowermagazine.com/forums/topic/113095-pettibone-ih-ub-240-zenith-carb-and-vari-speed-governor/

I am wondering how I determine exactly which engine I have in my Pettibone fork truck.  It looks like over the years there has been significant parts swapping, to the point I'm suspecting the entire UB-240 engine was swapped out with a BD 240 from a truck.

Maybe via the pictures in this album some of you here can help me identify?  https://imgur.com/a/jAm5I

I assume there are casting numbers I can look for to help the research?

I took a picture of the casting number on my Pettibone: https://i.imgur.com/crv8aQp.jpg

3162750R1 is what I see...

My UB240 manual shows the block part number as 316 275 R11.

There is an extra digit in the book, is this the same block?

The picture shows 316275r1 which is the casting number the 316275r11 would include main bolts and caps any dowels pressed in etc.
