B.B.
I don't think the 18th one will fit! I need to get a piece of angle iron made to hold them on. I'm not using tractor currently so no big deal until then.
B.B.
Got the hydraulic hoses today and got the loader working. It's not going to win any races that's for sure and just using the outlets stinks when your used to a joy stick. I'm guessing a 17gpm pump for a 1586 would speed it up a little?
iowaboy1965
Never used a joy stick enough to get comfortable with them. At this time i really dont see what the big deal over a joy stick is other than freeing up the outlets for something else. Really dont mind using the remotes. Anything i ever ran didnt have enough hyd cap to run more than one function at a time any way and both handles usually fit my hand so i kinda roll back and forth between em if i need to. ?♂️

But on the 06-66, a joystick is sure nice. I grew up running loader off the remotes and dont mind it at all, but I really enjoy moving bales with the joystick on our hydro 100

I'm 180 the other way. Probably has something to do with all the loader tractors we had in my entire life has had joysticks. ( IH 454 with a loader and the 3230. Our old JD 510C backhoe is even a joystick model. When running a few of the neighbors loaders with the remotes makes me look like a bear with mittens on running it. I couldn't remember which lever ran what so it was painful to watch and i was the one running it. It all boils down to what you are used to.

I'm used to the joystick on my little NH TC45D and the joy stick in newer Bobcats. I do have to reach down to grab the hydraulic handles in the 86 series which isn't an issue normally but with the loader isn't the most handy. That said, for what I have in a 145hp loader tractor I can't complain!

B.B.
Earlier this spring I lent out my 15 to the neighbor kid to plant his grandfather's crops. Last few years the kid has been planting with an old open station Oliver. Before he started planting his grandfather just paid someone to plant. He owns a fertilizer and chemical application business where I'm from and I worked for him years ago while I was in college and he always just treated me like one of his own kids. So apparently the grandson must of ran over something and ruined a rear tire so it came back home with two new Firestone radials. Total bill installed was $3,850 and of course he wouldn't let me pay for them. It also came back full of fuel but I am floored by the new tires.
856 Custom
Good deal Brian. There's is a few fair people out there. That was good for the tractor to get exercised too. Young fella who bought the 1486 I had for 20+ year's got a job disking for a guy this spring, because he had a tractor down. Used the guys disk behind it and the guy supplied the fuel. He told me what the guy paid him per acre for his time and the tractor and I thought it was very fair. Some people appreciate others kindness, and show they're appreciation in the end making things right. Then there's others who take advantage of people's kindness who think you have what I need why can't you share it with me. FWIW, in 1997 i bought 4 of those 20.8 Firestones mounted on the tractor price was exactly $3000.00. In 2014 i got 2 tires for that price. Price of grain hasnt doubled since 1997. 2
B.B.
So here's a picture that was taken this spring. The grandson is on the old Oliver. His grandfather is beside me. I worked for this man all through college at the fertilizer business. I learned a lot from him about a whole host of things. I admire him to this day. I would caption this picture "the consultation" as the grandfather has forgotten more about crops and farming in general than most will ever know, and I know he wants his grandson to have that knowledge! But I'm still floored by his generosity.
Cool1566
It’s always nice to deal with good people. Nice Oliver too!
Tmtbob
That’s what good people do. I borrow a few things from my cousin and always try to return it better shape than I took it. If it has fuel I fill it up before it goes home and if it breaks I’ll fix it and cover the costs. I feel bad for asking him but he has never told me no on anything but I also only ask if I know it’s sitting and he won’t need it.
B.B.
I haven't updated this thread in a while. I spent the summer working on a few things including an F350 with a 6.0 that I have received a lot of help with from forum members. I mowed this year with the 7130 Magnum. It sure is nice to use, and we used it early this spring to spread manure as well. As of right now my 1586 has the cab interior ripped out fixing a few things that started with a loose shifter under the seat and you know how it goes, one thing leads to another and you find yourself fixing 100 different things. My 986 needs the injection pump and injectors rebuilt and the AC system flushed and a new compressor, and it would be usable. The 1086 needs the Injection pump and injectors rebuilt too, and several other little fixes. Ac on it probably doesn't work either lol The 1486 is still running and is usable, although it needs 100 little things fixed as well! No AC in it either, and mowing with it some this summer gets awful hot as I left the doors on. Both my blue tractors need repairs before they are back to being usable. It's been a year of stuff breaking! 2
Reichow7120
Im having a hard time remembering now. Did you get the 1486 you started the thread with going? Or you bought another 1486?

B.B.
I'll ask here before I ask in a new topic. It seems I have bought a good running 1586 with transmissions issues that I will be picking up in a few weeks. I want to put the turbo setup on my 986. I would also like to swap the injection pump as the one on my 986 isn't right and needs rebuilt. Any issues on doing this other than the 1586 pump is probably set a little hot for a 986? B.B.
So if you have seen my 6.0 Ford thread you know I made a flying trip to MN and back a couple weeks ago to pick up a 1586. Here's a few photos of it after I unloaded it. As it sits it will not go into 2nd gear although it pulled in 1st and 3rd. TA seems fine, it has 95% Firestone Radials on the back, and the motor seems to run out really good. Cab is also very solid. When I picked it up it wouldn't steer, and the clutch was stiff but after running it a bit and turning steering wheel it got steering back. When I unloaded it I did so without steering or brakes, and a stiff clutch, so I am not sure what's going on but something is up with the MCV/Pump. Also today it seems I bought an IH 720 chopper pretty cheap on auctiontime that's kind of local down in Kentucky I need to now go get. At some point I will be chopping with a 986! True Red Stripe 1586. Came with a new grill and screen that I took out for transport. Also picked up a new Corn Pro 25+5 20K trailer a few weeks ago. It's maiden voyage was to MN to get the 15. My clutch fan evidently isn't working on the Ford so I had to drive with heater full on, and window down taking it easy with that load to keep from over heating. Made a 9 hr trip turn into about 11 hours of miserable driving. IH Plow I bought back this spring.
