The_CSMs_Wife Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 We want to tell everyone about the upcoming Red Power Round Up 2017 to be held in Des Moines Iowa at the Iowa State Fair Grounds on June 15th – 16th – and 17th, 2017. Committee members and organizers are looking forward to seeing lots and lots of Red Tractor Folks there and want to invite everyone to come and bring a friend…..or four!! We also hope you’ll bring your tractors, implements and other IH items, so please go to http://www.ihccia.net/ or https://www.catchdesmoines.com/rpru2017 and fill out a registration form and send in prior to show time. It’s not mandatory, but will certainly make your whole entry process quicker and more efficient. And please don’t think that everything must be restored and pristine to be at Red Power Round Up……..everyone loves to see things in their workclothes!! Following is a listing of the events, tours, and seminars that we’ve put together. This, along with 1,000+ tractors of every age, size, style, and condition, high-wheelers, trucks, hundreds of IH implements and tools, IH kitchen appliances, a large auction, and many indoor and outdoor vendors makes a trip to Des Moines in June the highlight of your summer. Our indoor vendors and Chapter tables will be in a single air conditioned building. And the biggest, friendliest, shadiest front porch in the Midwest to sit, relax, recharge and people-watch! Come see us in June!! The two websites: http://www.ihccia.net/ or www.catchdesmoines.com/rpru2017 both have full info on lodging, golf carts, the auction, memorabilia, souvenirs, and anything else you need to know. Diesel Doctor Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Will be there all three days and the wife is planning on coming along. I'm sure it will be a great show!
nate Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Cyndy. Will be there! I especially like that you mentioned for people to bring tractors in their work clothes. I find myself taking the most time to look at them for some reason. Many times I hear "I can't bring mine to the show its not fixed up". I encourage people to bring them anyway. Nate
Tonyinca Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Thank You Cindy, I am sure Carol will love some of the seminars you have planned. I would love to bring some tractors ,but a bit far . God willing Carol & I will be there from start to finish. Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new RP people. Like you said tractors done up or work clothes ,They are all RED GEMS and great to look at and reminisce. Carol cannot figure out why I need to look at the same tractors five times each day and I cannot explain it ! but its great and can not get enough of it ! Tony

Nebraska Cowman Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Thanks for posting that info. I want to hear Gerry for sure. I am bringing friends and they are bringing tractors. Arriving Wednesday afternoon.
FarmallFan Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I'm looking forward to the show! I'll be flying in on the 15th and leaving Saturday afternoon.
new guy Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 http:// If you are coming in from the south east Vandalia road is closed where it turns into 30th. It doesnt sound like it will be open by show time but i will watch it and post if it opens by then.
new guy Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 http:// And dont try cutting around this way with a big truck. City cop taking donations if you do. Cars ok. Big trucks come over on 163.
Sledgehammer Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I plan on being there at some point Friday through Saturday. Bringing a buddy who has never been.
caseySD Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I'll be there all day Friday. Not sure if we're pulling into town Wed or Thurs yet.
nepoweshiekfarmalls Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 I hope that everyone will plan to attend. The members of Chapter 5 have been working hard to put on a memorable event for all of you. The Iowa State Fairgrounds is a beautiful;, wonderful venue. There are over 1500 campsites available, many hotel rooms within the Des Moines area are still available. There will be plenty of parking and exhibition space. Bring your exhibits for everyone to enjoy! We plan to have the exhibits and vendors close together for convenience, with the indoor vendors inside the air conditioned Varied Industries building. The featured series will be the 56 series with the 656 being the feature tractor. I hope to see the grand concourse completely lined with 56 series beauties! We also plan for a mini feature of the transition from gray tractors to red. We would love to have one of each model in both colors on display! Mike Links has offered to host the meet and greet for the forum members again. As the outdoor vendor chairman, I will make sure we have a nice spot to meet. I welcome your questions and comments. Feel free to pm me. See you there!

Will we be using a gate on the west end of the fair grounds to enter and unload tractors/equipment?

Could be north or west side. Hopefully someone could clarify....

ny bill o Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 speaking of bringing a tractor in its working clothes, it would be hard to beat the sequence of events at the Colombia, Mo roundup. on saturday midday, while people were waiting to use the loading dock and head home, some guys shows up with a "really working clothes" F20 on the back of a 1 1/2 ton truck, backs in, unloads, takes off for the show book picture taking area, comes back, and reloads. never moved the truck, never shut the tractor off, or anything. thanks a whole pantload, guy.

new guy Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 The Bridges of Madison county have one less bridge. The Cedar Bridge burned on Saturday morning. It was not an original bridge but a replica of the one that burned years back. It was the only covered bridge you could still drive a car through.

The loss of the Cedar Bridge is a real bummer, was certainly a highlight of the bridges tour. I cannot understand why someone would destroy something that so many others truely enjoy. Second time that location has burned. Wonder if the county will rebuild this time?

Sounds like they are determined to rebuild again. This one cost nearly $500,000 in 2002. Being a large part of the local tourism they will find a way to raise the funds.
Diesel Doctor Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Golf Cart Question. This is said about personal golf carts. "All personally owned units must have a permit which can be purchased at the security office on the west side of grounds.Permit fee is $20/ day or $25 for 3 days and $50 for 4 plus." Am bringing mine on a small trailer. Wondering what gate to come in and unload at? Would want to park the trailer there also. Where do I then drive to to buy the needed permit? I have all the insurance information and a drivers license. Is there a secure area, at night, that one can leave his cart? Or do I need to load it and take it off grounds each night? Maybe others want to know also. Thanks!

Maybe others want to know also. Thanks! I'll do my best to answer your questions..... We'll be using Gate #2 of off University Avenue to access the Grounds. University Ave. runs east and west along the north side of the Fairgrounds, and Gate #2 is traffic-light protected with a left turn lane if you're coming from the east. Once you're on the grounds, you'll migrate south to the main Show area. Between signage and volunteers, you'll be able to locate the unload area and the trailer parking area. You'll get your golf cart registration taken care of at the State Fair Public Safety Building. It's a small brick building located on the south side of the Grand Concourse, toward the west end of that street. Once you spot the huge Grandstand, you'll find Public Safety on west down the street and on a corner on the other side of the street. All Fairgrounds gates....drive-in and walk-in..... will be locked from 9PM to 7AM each day of the Show. The only people allowed on the grounds at all between those closed times are authorized State Fair Security personnel. I've attached a map of the Fairgrounds that hopefully will help everyone kind of familiarize themselves with the layout. There's a red arrow at the top of the sheet marking Gate # 2 and another arrow showing the location of the Public Safety Building. Indoor vendors and Chapter Tables will be located in the HUGE building just to the east of Public Safety.....the famous Varied Industries Building, or VIB. Thanks for the questions and the opportunity to clarify anything we can as we get closer to the time of the Show. Looking so forward to seeing everyone in Des Moines in June!
farmalldr Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Good evening, Do RV's enter at gate 2 also. Sorry if I missed it in a previous post. Looking forward to the show. Thanks Dennis
