fbh31118
OK, just like the title says. Does anyone know what the degree of taper is for the lifters on an H or if they were designed with any at all? I'm looking at getting the lifters ground for my H project and I wondered if anyone might know what degree the taper was. My service manual is at the farm so that's not near by. Thank You! GT&T
FBH The angle of convex face should be 1* 30" or in laymans terms 1 & 1/2*. Here is a link to You Tube that shows how it is done, but if you were asking you may already have a Tappet Refacer . Hope you enjoy. GT&T
fbh31118
Thank You GT&T! Those numbers are what I was looking for. I figured from what I was able to read that it was going to be the shallower taper. Brian
DWV
Don't know the answer to question. But would like to know the correct answer. Old mechanic told me once that the H and M lifters were flat and cam lobes had a slight tapper from end to end or the lifter bores were slightly angled. Never thought to measure a new IH cam or lifter before he told me that. Dave

As far as I can tell the tapered cam wasn't introduced until the 1950's but some one please correct me if I'm misinformed. This would go to further validate GT&T's answer of the low taper on the lifter.
