fbh31118
Good Morning Red Power Nation! Question for the day from yours truly. After building a fresh motor for my H what oil should I be using for a break in period? I know I would like to have some thing with a higher zinc content if possible but was wondering if you folk would have any input. Thank You! oleman
I have seen no recommendation for anything synthetic. GM specifically says DO NOT USE in their crate motor catalog. GM has some break-in additive that I have always used with normal oil when installing a flat tappet cam in any engine.
Eason
IH low ash engine oil. It has the high zinc content you are looking for. Eason
R Pope
Use a good diesel lube, they have zinc in them. I run it in all my old engines. No synthetics for break in!
