fbh31118
Real eeeeeeasy question for you die hard enthusiasts. What is the size and thread pitch is the water jacket drain hole in the block for the H? Thanks for the help!
jass1660
I believe its 3/8 pipe thread.
GT&T
I think Jass is right, and not to be picky but that would be tapered pipe threads. If I were going to do as good a job of restoring that engine as I see you are doing, then I would look in the Red Power magazine and find someone who supplies new replacement wing type of original plugs. They will look nice and be correct, however a 3/8" tapered pipe plug would be adequate. The radiator drain has a 3/8" tapered pipe "cap" with wings on it. Both these caps and plugs are available after market, the originals were cast iron. GT&T
DR.EVIL
This is just a thought, I read of a lot of people having problems removing those pipe plugs after decades. Would it make sense to install a brass plug with Teflon thread sealant? I remember Dad and I fighting that plug on the Super H and it was only 14-15 years old then! TomH
The threads on one of my H's were pretty rough, applied a good coat of Alcoa Aluminum gutter seal and screwed it in. No leaking.
