ROCKWELL STEERBLE RER AXLE OIL LEAK

Not an IHC--But they came close to making the first IHC  4x4 and lost the contract to  I think Steiger.. Anyway this tractor mid 60's has a Rockwell steerable rearend PS 251 HX 12 and there is a big rubber seal that you can see that goes around the axle.  It is leaking and is damaged--the rubber seal.

What is a guy looking at to replace---remove wheel, planateries etc   Thanks for any help   len in michigan   M R S  owner

I have a Rockwell service manual.  It has all models of axles, brakes, transfer cases, transmissions, combine transmissions, concrete mixer transfer cases, etc. etc.  It has a section on steerable and non-steerable planetary axles, however this manual does not specify what the model numbers are.  I suppose that is because different manufacturers used different model numbers for the same type of component.

I said all of this to let you know that if I can help you with information, I would be glad to do so.   Please give me a description of what the components look like and some pictures would help too.

tHANK YOU   GT@T----This tractor is the M R S  I-80 industrial model with the 4-71 Detroit--1964 is the year  maybe 1963.  I believe the oil is leaking out of the rear differential and going into the steering knuckle area where the brakes are next to the steering knuckle and drips down out of that area.   I am not smart enough to post pics here---mine are too big.   A fella from Alaska posted pics a couple years ago here for me.

I am going to try and post pics--I can send to an email.......lenray777@gmail.com

WAS told the  P @ H  Cranes maybe the R 125  have the same axle......   Again thanks for writing; we wrote some concerning this tractor a few years ago.    len at  clare  michigan

I tried to send you an email.   I did find a reference to the PS 250 axle.  The P is for planetary  and the S is for steering a rigid rear axle would be PR.  I think I have the proper manual from Rockwell International.

While I am on the subject of Rockwell Manuals,  my master book is probably 4" thick and has insert manuals for Rockwell axles and for combines transmissions, gear reduction boxes and brakes for excavators.  It is quite complete for Rockwell components.
