Thomure MFG makes something like what you are describing already.  It should be at the bottom of page 44,  3 3/4" inlet to 5" step up.  You can call for prices.  They know their products very well from my experiences with them and can answer any questions.

      Just my opinion , but if your going to a larger stack ,try to hide the reducer under hood if possible.

       To my eye, looks kind of tacky to have a larger then normal pipe trying to look mean , and a little tiny reducer at bottom showing .

         Kind of does away with the testosterone your wanting it to have.

This, call Dave, don't cut a hole in the hood. He makes what you need to put a 5in. stack on a '66 series.
