IH Diesel Crawler, TD 142

Details for approximate age and model # needed:

#: 45174 Model ( located on dash plate, under starter)

# 277298-R 1 (located on left manifold engine

Perkins Engine

Starts on gas - switch to diesel

2 batteries under seat

38,000 lbs (approx dry weight)

(w) 10 ft (length) 14 feet, trac (w) 18 inches

been told prior to 1965 built (?)

Last TD14,142 series built in 1958.Bare tractor weighs approx 20500 lbs (no way it is 38000 lbs even with a blade! ) If it starts on gas ,then switches to diesel,it is most certainly NOT a Perkins diesel!! Not sure where you would have come up with that little gem.

Welcome, I have one just like it I don't know if it's right but a previous owner told me Clyde was about 28k +or- that's with a 12' blade (too dang much) and 20" pads and canopy.

Welcome aboard OKLA,,

Anytime that my Uncle saw an engine that he had no clue what it was , He called it a "Deutz" or a "Perkins" :)

277298-R 1 Will be the IH part number of the component the number came from ,

If you take a peek at the construction forum there is serial number listing ,and year of manufacture , Lots of folks have 14's on here .
