ALY 0
Hey guys I'm new to the page, thanks in advance for any help. So recently my dad picked up a WD 9 and a TD 9 originally he thought he could get the TD 9 going without swapping but that was an epic fail the head is cracked leaking anti freeze into the oil quite a mess so we're on to plan b. We've never worked on one of these before we've been given so pointers on what all needs to be switched over but any input is appreciated. Dad is in the process of trying to remove the crank shaft and crank shaft pulley but this is giving us a run..... Can anyone help us out any pointers or walk me through how to get this apart? The nut is off heat and an impact but the rest is at a standstill.
Good Hope IH 0
Welcome, If you move this to the construction side you might get more ideas. I did the same thing to my TD-9 to get the front crank pulley off I used a three point puller and no heat and it came but if it is really stuck you might break the pulley. Also the oil pick up is different from the tractor to the dozer, the pan is different to, the back mounting plate is different, the fly wheel is different and the fuel filter mounting bracket is longer to allow for the leavers on the TD-9 and the flipper on the lift side (when sitting in the seat looking forward) is different to allow for different angles of the flipping leavers on a TD-9 can't think what else I did but there might be a few other things. Have fun with it. Still working on mine the block was full of mice nests in the water jacket still getting them out but it runs good.

M Diesel 0
Zactly. Block is same but all the outside pieces are basically different. If switching to a newer block, it will work. Older may have issues due to missing bosses. This mostly applies to the oldest blocks. Them pulleys are a pain. Force from behind and a hammer around on the front is all I have to add.
