  1. I was taking with @Axial Flow and he sent me some pictures and asked me add them. He was hoping to see what people know about the serial number differences shown in the pics. Why are some the “old style” and others the “new style”. The first pic is a later serial number 856 hi-crop followed by it’s tag. The second set is an 856 LP followed by its tag. He will probably be along to comment further. Was there a timeframe as to the swap in serial number styles? Did the letters other than the serial number have meaning like the earlier letter series tractors?
  2. Took a walk this evening when I arrived home from work. Decided to show off some of our machines at work. Dad in the 856 with 3 point sprayer, applying post emergence in corn.
  3. Picked up 2 IHs on other side of Red River in Oklahoma. Pretty much cleaned out the place if IH stuff except a 674. 1066 is being parted out going to try and save 856.
  4. I see all kinds of interesting things on my commute to work. This morning I passed this rig at 7:40 AM between the Kellogg and Newton exits on I-80. Nice looking 856 with diamond cab, front weight box, front fenders, and beefy rear tires. Look closer and there is a belly fuel tank strapped to the front of the load! Pulled by an early 2000's green single cab super duty with a flatbed. Is this anyone on here? I gave the driver a thumbs up as I passed by......
  5. I bought this running and operational 856 Diesel in December from a guy in Monee, IL who told me he got it from somewhere in Indiana. He bought it with a 2250 loader on it and stripped the loader off to run a large round baler. The hour meter shows 6700 and change on it, but is currently not working so hours are unknown. The guy I bought it from had the PTO rebuilt and told me the engine had been overhauled before he bought it. That's all I know about its history. I have taken the Year-A-Round cab off, removed the 3 pt, and am having the pump opened up along with bigger injector tips for pulling it this summer. It needs to be rewired and the lights added back as the cab was wired in place of the factory wiring and some hydraulic leaks fixed. Barring any major failures this summer it'll get put on a plow in the fall and then get some forced induction over the winter. Model: 856 Farmall Diesel Year: 1968 Serial #: 14435 Options: T/A, Flat Top Fenders, Wide Front, 3 PT, Dual Hydraulics, Dual PTO, Tilt Wheel, Hydraulic Seat
