  1. I just did this to my 2001. It is like Christmas for my butt every time I sit in it.
  2. Up to 50/50. Kinda depends on the wood if it is hard i thin it more,softer/drier a little less. Usually around 40/60 mineral spirits to linseed oil. I use boiled
  3. If you thin the linseed oil with mineral spirits it will dry and penetrate much better. Otherwise it will be sticky/ gummy for a week or so
  4. Number 4 is what catches on a stop in the pulley.
  5. On the passenger side of the baler on the pulley that runs the twine tie system. The cog/lever sometimes gets to where it is not catching and will do your describing. I dont remember exactly how to fix but remember using washers to get it to catch. I am looking for parts pictures now
  6. That was original or close to it color. Rims were body color with white pin stripes. There is a pin stripe that needs to be put on around cab. Hub caps were originally painted white with red gmc letters. Dad is deciding on hub caps and tires this week. I want him to put mud grips on the back. This was a Korean War era truck is why there was so little chrome on it.I want to take it in the county stock show rodeo parade. Pic is dated 1964 note ffa sticker...it is still on it.
  7. Thanks guys I appreciate the compliments. I really hope my dad drives it some.
  8. My grandfather bought this truck new. My dad drove it in high school. It was parked in the barn in the late 60s until my grandfather passed in 2009. I took it to my dads and he started working on it. My sons and I painted and rewired it and finished a few things for him. He has the hub caps and is waiting on the tires.
  9. I have a 78 f250 crew cab short bed. Texas truck. My uncle bought it new. PM me forgot 4x4
  10. The cradles are 119" outside. We never did measure with hay on it
  11. Yes, we have a material breakdown. Since it was for show we used all new components. We have around $6k in the trailer. There are some built in Mexico that are very little more than our material cost. I wouldn't mind using one of them but don't know how long I would want to own it
  12. I do have a video on my phone, not sure if/how to post that. We hauled 10 or so loads before we finished and painted it. We added some rubber bumpers for the cradles to fall against and springs to reset the cradles after dumping.
  13. He copied the gooseneck from my pj gooseneck flatbed. The jacks and axles came from Rockwell American. 8k axles. The trailer weighs 5500, a little heavy but, it should last.
  14. Thanks for all the words of praise/encouragement. This is a ffa project for ffa ag mechanic shows at stock shows. He is at fort worth this weekend. He chose the round bale trailer, with my approval. Since I sponsored/paid for. The plans were the thing that he struggled the most with. We looked at several round bale trailers and then started building. I have built trailers, barns and plenty of stuff. I never learned how to draw. I always built it out of my head. Right or wrong that is how this trailer was built also. He didn't draw the plans until it was done. Small sample of welding 3x4 3/8 w
  15. Yes, we load from the rear. They don't usually roll very far
  16. Yes. 6 bales per side, they dump together.
  17. This is my middle son's ag mech project for this year. I handle around 3k round bales a year. This should help speed up the process. 12 4x5 bales, hydraulic latches. 184 hours of his time. Super proud of him. Thanks for looking
  18. Here is my 5088 before its fire. Love some 88s.
  19. I have injector lines loose at the pump and have ran the battery down twice trying to bleed it. I am afraid something has happened in the pump.
  20. I changed and blued the fuel filters on my 485. It has fuel to the injection pump, but it is not getting fuel to the injectors. What do I do or look for next?
  21. I am pretty sure the fire started on/in the cab. I was not using the tractor, it had been sitting for a week or so. The baler is a goner also.
  22. My 5088 burned last week. I dont know the cause, but suspect electrical? It had been sitting for a week or so. This was a great tractor just rolled over 7400 hours. Other than tires and a few odds and ends it was cheap to run, never left me with work to do.
