  1. Danny, sounds like you're a busy boy this summer. Wish I could make the half century show. Do you routinely take pictures of all the tractors you work on? If so I'd sure like to see them. Having good summer, just got back from the lake, Spirit Lake Id, and been riding my a## off! Just put up video of my ride in Palouse, check it out. Later Buddy!! Bill Karis

  2. Love the restored cars and trucks. My pop had a 56' Pontiac, powder blue and white. I just posted some video of the Palouse, have a look Greg, and a guy in Tekoa WA may be trying to corner the market on old Pontiacs Love this thread. Bill
  3. Danny, got 2 complimentary DVDs heading your way. Couldn't get it all on one DVD. Got my bike back on the road after flat front tire. Slow leak, just had to keep stopping for air to get home. Chat later partner. BK

  14. Danny, thanks for the response. I'm a relatively new member, seldom post, and haven't been on a tractor in nearly 40 years, but I'm game. This will be my first and probably only RPRU, but I'm stoked!! 5:00 sounds good to me and I don't mind where. Whatever I can do to facilitate this. I leave Monday morning. My phone is 509-981-7263.

  15. I could just about get this one in my garage. My in-laws owned several of the big engines, which they used to transport their fair from town to town in the early 1900s. My wife has a couple of the original show poster framed and hanging in the hallway. BK
  16. All of the rides are steam powered. Action everywhere. BK
  17. Everyone on this thread seems to enjoy steam activities. Managed to attend couple Dorset Steam Shows, while I lived in England. Lots video of these events on youtube. Hope you enjoy. Bill
  18. Great Vid, Palouse!! Saw many familiar scenes. Love the crop duster cowboys. We were cruising south on the ole Palouse Hwy one gorgeous day, just coming up over a rise, just as one those guys was taking off from a small strip right along the road. He popped up and my heart stopped beating, I crapped my drawers and nearly rode my springer off the road. It makes me laughs now, but at the time, it sure scared the H...E...double hockey sticks out of me. BK
  19. OBG, sorry about the confusion of an Uncle Dan. I was thinking of the gentleman with the nice farmall collection in Columbia Falls, passed through there a number of times. Yeah, "Charlie" launch control center was just down the road from Stanford, and it was nearly my second home. Didn't see much daylight there, and never heard about high water problems, it was always dry in the acustical enclosure, which was suspended from the the ceiling of what was like a giant concrete contact cold cabsule. We were suspended by huge shock absorbers about 2 feet in diameter, with a short "cat walk" to the blast door. Never made it to "Mike", it was a different system. As a member of the 10th Strategic Missile Squadron, I pulled alerts in each of the 15 Minute Man II capsules. We were JFK's "First Aces", during the Cuban Missile crisis, he mentioned to the Soviets, that he had an "ace in the hole", hence we were the "First Aces Squadron" because we were the first squadron to come on line as alert ready. Was also a member of the "Roy Rocket Club". There was an LCC out near Roy, "November" I think, and we use to keep track of how long it took us to drive out there. This was back in the glory days of 55 mph speed limits and the $5 energy conservation violation tickets. We had to radio the TCC, Transportation Control Center, when we left the base and when we arrived at the site. Can't remember how many times we "forgot" to call TCC when got to the LCC! Had a buddy that kept all of his pink slips he saved from "chats" with the law enforcement folks, and papered a wall of his bathroom with them. Those chevy diesel suburbans could really cruise . BK
  20. You may well be correct Tubacase47, but for whatever reason I wanna say the south side of the road, 24 years is a ways back in th memory bank. I do agree it was close to GF. Also was/is there somebody with a collection of traction engines along that stretch of road? Maybe it was further east. Time for a road trip!! Bill
  21. Just thumbing through the last few pages of the thread and noticed Delta Dirt's pic of a bull in a chopped car. Reminded me of a story. I was just pulling out of Stanford, heading west, came up behind a pickup with a cattle trailer that was trying to get up to air speed when the doors on the trailer flew open and out came one bewildered looking steer. Not sure if it was a steer, couldn't tell from my angle. I slammed on the binders, the steer's tail went straight up, his eyes were big as saucers, and he was skidding on all four hooves. He did go down on one rear quarter at one point and came back up, but I'd have to give him a 9.5 for poise and balance. The rancher stopped pretty quick, but I had to go home and change underwear. I'm guessing that steer was a little trailer shy after that trip. Still brings a smile when I think of it. Saw these big boys on the way to Neihart. I lived in Great Falls from early 85 to early 89 BK
  22. Just for the record, these pics were taken in 1987. Was probably on the way to Standford for a sticky bun and coffee. BK
  23. I've followed this thread with fasination for some time. During a previous life, I spent several years under Montana. I was an ICBM Combat Crew Commander stationed at Malmstrom AFB, just outside Great Falls. Earlier today I was converting slides to digital and came across a couple pics of a MT farmer hard at work. It was, if I recall correctly, along Hwy 87 between Great Falls and the big city of Belt. I was always amazed by the huge operations out there. I come from an area of 80 acre family farms in central Michigan. Still have fond memories of MT, and get over there fairly often on my scoot. Nothing like Glacier or Yellowstone on two wheels. Happy to be able to contribute. P.S. How is Uncle Dan, and does he have any projects going?
