  1. No problem on the lift link. Hope it fixed you up! I'm sure freezing dated to days of running water in block and need to drain if too cold. Glad that isn't the case today!!! Cool old gauge though!!!!
  2. I have the M18 Fuel mid torque 600ftlb version. It's a horse in a small package. Das bought the 1200 ftlb Fuel.....lots of power there.
  3. That is an excellent book. Very detailed accounts of the salvage operations. I'll get there some day.....Arizona, then Missouri......bucket list trip.
  4. Wheatland with ice cream box from a local show and grandfather's.
  5. Compact battery powered tools have made "speed" wrenches and screwdrivers (like above) nearly obsolete. My 1/4 and 3/8 drive speed wrenches are in the box, but very dusty.
  6. Grandfather had an IH branded oil can punch/spout that dad has tucked away somewhere. I am old enough to have used them, but as a kid helping dad and grandpa......my own stuff used plastic quarts. Things I never use.......abrasive chop saw. Once I got a carbide saw, the chop saw collected dust. I also tend to avoid std grinding wheels in favor of flap disks for about 98% of what I use an angle grinder for (leaving out cut off disks of course) Bench grinder never is used for grinding, only wire wheels.......4" belt/disk sander took its place.
  7. Who wants to know its location anyway????? I hear you melt into a puddle like a candle if you look at it........no thanks!!!! 不不不不不
  8. We gave up on the added expense of red duct tape.....不不不
  9. I see your clean grain elevator received the "silver seal"...... Don't worry, ours did too....不不不
  10. I've used one. Ok on some easy splitting stuff, but no maul. They were all the rage in the early 80's
  11. Everything on the farm was a fort, pill box, hiding place......hours on end everywhere we could climb. BB guns......Daisy 840......shot it completely out. Replaced with 880.....and proceeded to shoot it out too. 840 would let you watch the BB and "walk it in" to a distant target. 880 was too fast for that. Would sit on tin barn roof, dump about 15 BB's in the barrel, shoot them straight up and then wait for them to rain on us. Simple fun days......
  12. Thanks for the heads up!
  13. very nice!!!! IH's and Fords......what more can you ask for?!?!?!?!?
  14. Angle with field cultivator is a must if you still use markers......especially if you work ground in evening and are planting at night. When the top doesn't dry off it's hard to pick out the marker mark from field cultivator harrow marks. 10 deg angle fixes that problem quick!
  15. Direct cut forage harvester.....tire mats crop down in front of cutter head.
  16. Old school / old equipment.... Double disk with Kewanee disk....first diagonal, then straight. 4.5-5 mph......keep it sharp for 250 bu stalks. Chisel plow on angle with old DMI Chizl-Champ 13 shank, straight points 9-10" deep. 1486 handles it all just fine. Yes it's 3 trips and not time efficient (we farm small). Fuel for 3 trips is cheaper than buying more hp and fancier equipment. Leaves about 50% on top, well stirred, not ridged too bad. All flat ground, heavy black Central IL top soil. In spring you can go straight into it with late 80s vintage field cultivator. (Open frame spacing).
  17. Wrench lives on the cab floor, right behind your feet.......half way down the ladder you grab the wrench......then off to the end of the platform you go........ The dance of the green stemmed soybeans and the 1460.......
  18. Thanks.........In all fairness, I have to go down to his place next weekend and help him do some basement sealing/insulating....but, you are right, he did me a nice favor coming up to help, and he did a great job on the blower hopper.....he didn't make a huge mess and always kept me in insulation......I was very appreciative of his help.
  19. Ceiling insulated........R45-50 with fiberglass blown in fiber. Son came home to help feed machine. That finishes all major construction! And planted a redpoint maple tree....
  20. I'm a little surprised....our 345 4+2 1700 handles 325 bu (30,000# gross) without much trouble......not breaking speed records, but not flogging it either. Wonder how your 404 is geared?
  21. I remember getting this playset for Christmas......just a few years older than the ones posted earlier.... Brand new just released 3588 2+2's in 1/16 scale for Christmas was a big deal!
