Tractor of the week. Week 11: 706
Farmall1066 replied to nepoweshiekfarmalls's topic in General Chat
This little fart cost me some coin! This is my wife’s tractor, many times I tried to find an 856 wheatland and get rid of the 706 before I tore into it, but every time I walked past it, it just had that look to it, I couldn’t part with it!- 59 replies

I’ll have to try him, I don’t need one at the moment, I got one from Riley’s, so hopefully that treats me well! 🤞🏻
-
Can he get, or does he have 407 kits for the 12-1456’s?
-
-
I agree, if that’s all I could get, well, I’d use his, but they don’t look right to me either.
-
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one on this boat!! That’s exactly how it works for me!
-
@NCIH1466, where are you located? Riley Tractor Parts has overhaul kits for your 14, but you need to go through a dealer, they are just the wholesaler. I’m hearing a lot of good things about Riley’s kits!

Could have just snapped the original front axle, and that’s what was put back on from the salvage yard?! Either way, it’s a clean, straight looking 1026 that will get cared for well at your place!!

Just one of those nights, can’t get comfortable anywhere, flip, flop, toss, and turn, then finally!! That black under Jovie, is the cats bed! 🤣

I believe the large lights by the fuel tank indicates fender delete. I could be wrong, but pretty sure that is from a reliable source to the south! Darn nice looking 1026! Where did your dad find that?
-
I’ve been using the universal stuff in my 2011 F150 per the Ford dealership saying they are using it without issues. Guess I’ll find out!

Good to know, thank you!!

Where are these used? Smaller Farmalls, or bigger tractors?
-
Can you remember what supplier you got the cam from? Mine came from Riley Tractor
-
All new lifters and cam going in!

Your absolutely right!! I just hope there’s enough generations to keep these old girls alive that long, or longer!
-
The more I look at them, since 4 have been replaced already, maybe just get 8 more and have new rockers?! It’s only money, right?! 😬🤣
-
Well the fun of this one wasn’t supposed to be the fixing, it was supposed to be a runner. Well I guess it did technically run, how I don’t know?! 🤷🏻♂️🤣

If it’s reel shatter, a draper will not help, if it’s sickle shatter, maybe you’ll get a few more with the draper being you can pitch the cutter bar forward and try getting closer to the ground. But 9% beans usually end up being difficult to keep from shattering.
-
No, no resurfacing that!🤣 New cam, lifters, overhaul kit from Riley Tractor, head redone with valves from Riley, and a good used crankshaft going in. I’ll look the rocker arms over a little more, and if they all feel fine, I’ll run them. The unfortunate part, the tractor probably won’t get 200 hours on it the rest of its time with me.

If you replaced it with a new aftermarket gauge, that looks like the original gauge, they don’t last. This coming directly from Todd from The Farmall Shop when I was going to send a few down to him to get fixed. He’s waiting for capillary bulbs, so I said maybe I’ll get an aftermarket gauge, he said do not waste my money, they do not last.

My area of MN definitely is the Bermuda Triangle! It doesn’t matter, auger head or draper, once the sun goes down, we are done. Yes the draper still feeds, but the banging, and grunting the combine is doing, just not worth the hassle!
