I know people say you can eat it. I think you could be on full feed and not keep ahead of that crap in my garden.

I actually have decent germination with my carrots this year. The problem is I have so much purslane in the row, I hate to pull it when the carrots are so small as they come out too. This makes 2 years in a row I've planted carrots with my garden planter. Planted a little deeper than normal probably but also had better germination than I've had in the past.

I’m not a professional driver like you, but every day I’ve spent in a cabover was miserable. Warm here too. I cut 2st cutting alfalfa today and took my shirt off to try and minimize the farmer’s tab.😀

I have a 251 fast hitch planter but it has a disk opener for the fertilizer that sits to the side of the seed slot. I do have a set of these which I call split boots for fertilizer. I bought these along time ago to put on a mounted planter. They just bolt to this hole on the runner opener. Let me know if some different pictures would help you.

In my part of the world side hill drainage is very common. 1993 was a very wet year and I remember my Dad getting the combine stuck combining oats on a side hill. We couldn’t get it out and had to get a wrecker. More drainage tile has improved this quite a bit. In college I learned this occurs because of a Paleosol layer. Basically old soil that the glaciers dumped new on top off. Water runs down to this level and then runs vertical. This is why we can see water “seeping” from the side of a hill.

Never raked with this. But Dad had a New Idea 5 wheel rake that we raked many acres with when I was growing up. Worked great in alfalfa and straw. In thin grass hay it didn’t seem to rake as clean as a bar rake.

I’m sure it’s a long shot bout does anyone have a #30 wheel rake with decals that are still legible? I’m trying to help my Dad and get decals made for the rake he restored. The 1st picture is the decal I’m looking for before it was painted. I can make some assumptions but would love to know what it actually said. The 2nd picture is the rake today.

1 time years ago I saw the front dolly wheels off of an IH 35 rake for sale on Craigslist. I didn't have a 35 rake at the time but wish I had bought them. I'd love to convert my #35 rake over to dolly wheels, without them I can't turn very short at all.

I’ve made and modified a few things. This is a lawn dethatcher I made from an old New Idea side rake. This is the only thing I have a picture of. I would say my abilities are average at best. When at an auction it’s interesting to see all the modifications people have done over the years. Some people are really good…and others should never touch a welder.

I ordered an owner manual from them for my Massey Ferguson disc mower. No complaints.

I used to get rattle cans of till coat for the moldboards. But it seemed like quality changed. They would plug up almost instantly. So now I buy much cheaper spray paint and it works fine.

Now I’m no competitive plower. But I’ve rubbed up against enough greased moldboards with my pants that I decided to use cheap spray paint. Never had a problem with moldboards scouring and all I plow anymore are a few small gardens.

Hauled a little cattle manure. Borrowed Dad’s manure spreader and he thinks his SMTA needs to be on the spreader.

I drilled a lot of holes for my Dad using a brace and bit. Back in the days before powerful cordless drills this is how we mounted gates to wooden posts. I sure wouldn’t want to drill 200 with this.

I don't remember ever seeing Dion equipment in my part of the world. But I did see Dion pull type forage harvester at the national farm machinery show in Louisville. I didn't realize anyone was making a pull type machine anymore. Very impressive machine.

That looks like how I've painted suitcase weights and wheel weights. I hang small parts...but kind of hard to hang a weight with a piece of #9 wire as I've done with small parts. 🙂

As @brahamfireman already replied what he is referring to won’t have that risk as long as you do grow a crop to cover your HTA. There will probably be some minor costs associated with it. Around here an HTA that far out will probably cost 5 cents and rolling will cost 2 cents. The person writing the contract is making the trades on the board so needs something to cover that cost. I agree what he says can provide a great opportunity to lock in a price. I just recommend doing a reasonable percentage that far out. Technically if you are insured to 80% that is a reasonable level, but many don’t like to do that much.

Thank you. This is the list I was thinking of. I feel like the 70lb. with the L slot are fairly rare, especially those with the large handle. I have a set of the early ones and feel like that is all I ever see.

Somewhere I have a list of part numbers for the suitcase weights….but haven’t found it yet. I’m sure there were at least 2 versions of the 70 lb. weights, with and without the L slot.

My Grandpa said when he was young they used to feed snappers milk from the bulk tank prior to eating them. Supposedly cleaned out the swampy/dirty taste. I’ve never tried it.

I'm glad you brought this up....because I was questioning too if some Plow Chief bottoms had replaceable shins. I have a No. 8 2 bottom with Plow Chief bottoms. I know it doesn't have replaceable shins as the moldboards are worn and I'd like to replace them some day. I'm pretty sure the part number is 515712R2 for those moldboards. I haven't had time to check but think I have a couple fast hitch plows with Plow Chief moldboards that do have replaceable shins.

I don't think this is true. The 74 series and 84 series were built in Doncaster England as someone else mentioned. The 74 series would have been made at the same time as 656 and 666 I believe. 84 series would have been made at the same time as 686. I can think of a 574 and a 674 in my area that people had as loader tractors. But here in my part of the world these tractors were very uncommon. Also forgot to mention that there was no 666 or 686 utility. I think the 656 would have been the last Farmall built utility tractor unless there is something else I'm forgetting about.
