Bought a Super C last fall to play with. I don’t see much since in restoring them as there isn’t the value in them. But I have fixed a few things, few more things to fix up, and cleaned things up. Today I wash it off with SOS pads to get all the loose rust and paint off. Then wiped it down with boiled linseed oil. Looks pretty good if you ask me. I love the preservation vs restoration. Befores and after.

Found a complete fast hitch locally. Now have all the pieces needed to plow properly. I will probably use the leveling link as a template, make one myself and sell the hitch as whole. Hopefully get my money back!

Got the tractor all back together and took it for a ride down the road.

I don’t believe that is necessary. I have an 89 Freightliner with a 3406 Cat that I had the radiator re-cored with a copper core, put heavy duty coolant in it about 10 years ago, I have not had any trouble with it.

The radiator shop is BJR Radiator in Rochester, NY.

Got a call from the radiator shop at about noon. He told me he boiled it out, inside and out and was flowing water good. He replaced the over flow tube, soldered up the top neck and the top tank. Said it was holding pressure good and should have plenty more life in it. He asked me if $135 was okay. I said yes absolutely.

I used to do the concentrate with distilled water trick. But with 50/50 pre diluted mixes, I just find it easier to use it. No need to test for temp range. It is a little more expensive, but oh well. I’ve wondered that myself, but must lose some properties of both to make them work together. I would only use if I had no other option.

Thanks guys. I will put green coolant in the tractor. Have to put something in it as it doesn’t have the luxury of living in a conditioned shop. Dropped off the radiator at the radiator shop this evening after work. Said they were going to get on it tomorrow morning.

Have my super C stripped down, going through it. Wanting to go to plow days this spring, do some minor field work and mowing at my camp this summer. Just looking to go through all the systems to reduce troubles in the future. Taking the radiator to a radiator shop to have it pressure tested, boiled out and re-soldered (top tank is starting to weep). Debating on putting heavy duty (red) antifreeze in it vs green antifreeze, for a couple of reasons. First, heavy duty antifreeze has additional additives in it to help with corrosion resistance. Second, I run red antifreeze in everything else. Just easier to have a gallon or two of red on hand vs multiple gallons of red and green on hand. I did read that before switching, a good flush is needed to get as much green out as possible, as mixing the two could cause gelling and blockage issues. Is this true? Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

They’re cool little tractors. They can do big tractor work, but then put cultivators on them to do little tractor work.

No real restoration planned. I bought the tractor to work, pull a Cultipacker over my food plots or maybe a flail mower to keep trails clean. Really just wanting to keep it alive. Fix what doesn’t work and maintain to keep it reliable. Bought a fast hitch plow, thinking it would be fun to go to plow days with. Have a line on a trailer plow locally, and a few other implements. Just looking to play with the tractor. I like the Cs. They’re little tractors that do big tractor work.

I am also looking for the leveling link that adjust the pitch of a fast hitch plow, side to side. It goes from the touch control on the left side back to the float control of the fast hitch, just below the driver platform. Anyone have a line on one?

Yes that is correct. I am looking of the smaller style points for a Super C.

I have a 2 prong, small on my C. Are the single prongs the same dimensional size as the small dual prongs?

Just coming across this. Thanks for the info guys. In was thinking about asking a local fab shop if they could cut me some with their plasma table. $94.99 each seems pretty steep from Agri Supply!
