  1. I noticed a clicking noise in transmission pulling a load of hay up a hill. I had noticed it before just a little while backing up but never going forward. Now its doing it going forward, the higher gear, the better you can hear it. We thank the clicking is coming from the range transmission. Anything we might could check to help pinpoint the problem . My TA shifts like it should going up, but shifting down it hesitates and it will not hold back when going down a grade. I have adjusted it according to the manual i got. I may have 2 different problems. Any help would be apprecated.

I changed the female couplers on the left side, it solved my problem. Will get a set for the other side when i get a chance. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies. We will change the couplers and go from there.

    1256 remotes

My blocks looks just like what you have circled with the lines going from the block back up under the seat, on both sides. I can take the one on the right loose from the lines, but the one on the left has the lines made directly in the back. Can i take the check valve out of the block or will it have to be completely changed?

    1256 remotes

I thank its setup just like this, Ill look tomorrow to make sure. Lines come down and have couplings, not like the couplings on the right side of your picture.
  6. When we use the remotes on the 1256, you have to be very easy and move the lever very little to let anything hooked to it down or it will lock the cylinder. Only way to unlock it is to raise it back just a little and try to go down again. My help said something about it last year with the rake, and I forgot about it till I hooked the disk to it yesterday. I tried the other remote and its the same way. Is something out of adjustment in the valve? No problems raising up. This is the only tractor we got that does this.
  7. Thanks Guys. Tractor engines would be what i want one for. Im sure it will be used for other jobs. From what I have looked at online, I will probably build one myself.
  8. I am looking for a engine stand for my shop. What is the weight of a 466 complete engine? Would use it for other things, but if i get one, i want one big enough to handle big 6 cylinder engine. Thanks

We had about decided it was mcv. Does these cause a lot of problems on this series of tractors?

    884 PTO

Got a 884 in shop thats had hydraulic problems. When it started, the hitch would go up and wouldnt come down. We found metal in the draft control valve, found the pump was going down. Cleaned all the valves and checked everything. A few days later, same problems. We checked the unloading valve and flow valve under the seat, went back to working. The last time it quit, no hitch, no steering, and pto will not come on. We replace the complete valve under the seat and the hitch and steering works. Pto still will not come on. Put gauge on the remote and got 2200 # . I found a service manual, got a gauge on the multiple control, says i need 200-220 #, but only got about 30#. It already has 3 shims to increase the pressure according to how the manual says to raise it. New oil, new filter. Could the seals internal be letting the pressure off before it engages the pto? Or have i overlooked something else?

It was the o-ring thats behind the back plate that was messed up. Glade to know about the seal in the suction tube, I didnt know to watch that. Thanks

Thats a big problem for you guys turning wrenches for a living. All the guys locally says it getting where at least half the parts they get either dont fit or wont work like they suppose to. On my new pump, the seal on the back plate was about half out of the groove, letting it loose pressure.

BAD pump. Seal in back of pump blowed. You wouldnt thank new parts would be worse than old ones. Thanks for all the help trying to figure it out.

Snoshe, you are correct about the shaft. This is a 70 model with open center hydualics. I dont believe anything has been changed. Its just got 5000 hrs on a working tach and Im the 3rd owner. Hoping to have some answers this evening as Ill be in shop today. JaredT, you are correct, lots of stuff thats no account be put on and having to be replaced again.

Its not, theres a little coming out from the left short axle, but none on the right. On my 1256, theres oil coming from the sides and top, which I know its seen its better days, but it works.

I have took the remote valves apart, found nothing. With the plate off the back for the center link, only oil is moving is at the front where the gear turns the pump. Also noticed a little oil coming out the bearing on the left side where the short axle comes out of the brake housing. It really dont change with the levers moved. I changed the filter again friday. Didnt cut it open, but it looked Ok, but I had an extra one at shop. The loader plugs in the remotes at the back. I hadnt had a chance to get back to it so far this week. Be at the shop tomorrow. I have done a little checking on my 1256 to compare pressures and when i go back to shop. I have about decided, its either pump or i got something stuck internal. I got a pressure gauge to put on housing where pump fastens, to see what kind of pressure i got there. It should be close to the same as my 1256.

All 4 are metal. When you look in from the back while its running, only oil moving is at at the front where the pump is located and where the axle cones out the left side, above the pump. I have had the relief and the block it goes in all aprart and didnt find anything i thought might be the problem.

Simple gear pump. Im gone to try and check pressure on the housing at the pump tomorrow. If its got pressure, i thank ive got a blockage internal.

I took the tube out and put it in pump then back into housing to make sure not to cut oring. Thats on the intake side and i know it completely covered with oil also.

Im still having problems with hydraulic problems. Tractor is 1979 model(open center). Replaced pump and worked great for short period of time. Then i lost pressure even worse than before i changed pump. I changed the relief valve with the one off another tractor, didnt help. I have checked the unloading valve which i did find part of an oring that didnt belong. I went back and checked the pump to make sure it hadnt sheared the key and also orings there. I hope to have a gauge monday to check the pressure where it comes out of pump on housing. I dont have enough pressure to raise the loader unless engine is at least 1500 rpms. The guage i got dont show any pressure at the remotes when running idle and the engine dont load up when the cylinders bottom out with high rpms. Have I missed something before i pull hitch? With the top link plate off, I can see oil churning in the front where the pump is located, but nowhere else unless you raise the 3 point and lower it. 3 point dont have much pressure either, i put a loader bucket of a smaller tractor on arms and it wouldnt raise like it should either with the weight. Thanks
  22. I still us a 1978 model 815 to shell about 12 acres of corn per year for cowfeed. I had a gas burner which was a older model that most of the parts are the same such as the radiator and most all the cleaning parts. It does a good job, just slow compared to the newer machines everyone uses today. .

Thanks, I traded for this tractor a couple of months ago, straight 1979 model with only 5000 hrs. Im the 3rd owner. I know the pressure is low as it will pick up loader if rpms go up. I also know i got to put a kit in the hitch cause it falls when tractor is shut off, im sure the orings need replacing. I done all this on my 1086 had years ago .

My 886 dont want to raise the loader if the engine is not running at least 1200 rpms. Checked the pressure and its weak. Steering and breaks works good. Gone to replace the pump. Am i correct, its the back pump and not the one behind the multicontrol valve? 70932C91 should be the correct # if im right.
  25. Sorry about not getting the list on here. The family has had some sickness and not had time to get me a list.
