Yes, he had to flip the ring gear assembly over to reverse direction of all the original forward gears. This was a lot of work, but the picker worked very good for what it was……this was a 1000% better than picking cotton by hand and dragging a pick sack with near 100lbs. Of cotton inside all day long!

My dad used one of these 1 row IH pickers mounted on a Super M until the mid 1960’s. After cotton picking was finished each year, the picker unit was taken off, and the old Super M returned to plowing and cultivating duties in the fields until the cotton crop was laid by. Then it was time to mount the picker unit back on the Super M for cotton picking season.

You have done a fantastic job on reviving this 706LP! Just curious, why did you have to pull the head back off after doing the engine rebuild? I really like these old LP tractors. Keep us updated on your progress!

Glad to see you back on the 650LP! You guys have done a fabulous restoration on the old girl. Hope that you can post a video of the tractor running once you’re finished with repairs. Thanks for taking us along for the ride during this project!

Glad to hear that you got it out, but really hate that you had so much trouble with it. I also got my manuals from Mike Becker (aka Paper Farmer) several years ago at one of the Red Power Roundups. He is a great guy and a very helpful person. You will find those manuals to be a very helpful source of information while working on your project. Hope you get the combine back up and running again without too many problems. Keep us updated with the repair progress, and post a few pictures of your combine too….as Jeff-C-IL said earlier, we all like to see pictures!

I am associated with our local Parish Agricultural Museum in southern Louisiana. The 123 SP “Rice Field Special” is one of the antique machines that belongs to the museum.

Attached are some pictures from the Parts Manual, and information from the Owner’s Manual that explains how to disconnect engine for removal from combine. All of this information comes from Parts & Owner’s Manuals for a 123 SP combine. I know you have a 125 SP, but this information might be the same for your combine. Hope this helps.

Those are actually one-piece tubeless rims that you have. Definitely not “split rim” wheels.
