My grandfather has a 1967 International 500 Diesel that I want to help him get running so I can help him clean up his land. This machine has been sitting for about 10 years, but it does have less than 2,000 hours. My grandfather is in the early stages of dementia and doesn't remember things like: where the operator's manual is, where the service manual is, and what type of battery it needs (he removed it a while back), etc. I am not very mechanically inclined but if I have a guide or tips on how to do things, I can usually figure it out. I tried looking for a new operator's manual and I wasn't sure on which one I would need, due to the several different models of these machines. The model number: "500 D 626" Serial number: "H2982R".
So here are the things that I know I will need fix:
Redo the wiring as it appears to have been chewed through (Will need to find the wiring diagram as well).
Replace rotted hoses
Check/replace fluids and filters
Any other tips for getting it running will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
